I remember Sept. 11 2001

I remember the horrors. I could have never imagine the anguish of the ones caught on the top floors, above the aircraft with literally no way out. I watched it on TV and could not begin to imagine the horrors that New Yorkers were feeling. And then the workers in the Pentagon. And I grieve for all the ones who died that day.

And yet, there were less than 4,000 people who died that day.

This number pales compared to the tens of thousands that died in Iraq. During the war, and since then, in the tribal strifes. And the terror brought by ISIL.

This century is only in its second decade. Most of us will not be around when it will come to the end. Yet, I have no doubt that the destruction of Iraq will be considered as the worst act of war in this century.

They will continue to go on probably for centuries. We have now committed ourselves to being at war in the Middle East indefinitely, for centuries probably. There is just too much money to be made for the ones who manufacture war. We will be at war until we the people vote out every single politician willing to keep it going. We must vote out every politician who supports perpetuating this horror.

the coming resource wars because of climate change will possibly be more destructive than the last centuries two world wars plus the local conflicts that killed millions combined.

I know that in the first few years we - at least on DU - kept track but now we - the American public - just shrug.
