Piers Morgan on LeBron James Breaking Royal Protocol: "You Do Not Put Your Sweaty Arm" on Kate Middleton

What a pompous ass he is. First of all, Piers, they are hanging out with a basketball celebrity after a game - in the U.S.A. This is not Buckingham Palace. Secondly, LeBron obviously has a clean sweatshirt on over his basketball duds so the fragile Kate is not going to get any sweat on her. And finally, Kate is obviously enjoying the attention and posing for the picture. If she didn't want to be touched, she wouldn't stand right next to him. Lighten up already.

I don't think it's that big a deal, however. Like most people would be he was obviously very, very excited to be meeting a real-life Princess and he probably got carried away in the moment.

(35,693 posts)Rather than a bit of sweat. Seriously.
Anyway, by all accounts, Prince William and Princess Kate had no such concerns. So Piers should get off his pompous high horse and shut his pie hole.

(63,883 posts)I realize he had prolly just come off the floor during or after the game but an extra shirt or even a quick towelling would have solved that.

(35,693 posts)sweating as soon as they stop running up and down the court. Even after a shower some athletes will often sweat for a while. You want to hang out with athletes after a game, you should expect to deal with a little sweat. So what? It is not as if he has Ebola.

(63,883 posts)Maybe he did try to use a towel quickly but his body was just too overheated not to sweat more. And I would get that getting a shot with the royals would be something you do right on the spot or lose the opportunity.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
I am going to try to explain this again. I know it is something every duer is aware of at this point. Claiming someone has their "panties in a twist" is blatantly sexist. Always has been always will. When someone is viewed as being overly emotional or hysterical they are described by some as "having their panties in a twist." Panties are being directly related to women as a symbol of a loss of emotional control. It is more often than not directed at men. As in the men are acting irrational and hysterical like a woman. That is exactly how it is being used in this instance. This is not overly pc. It is directly sexist. There is no other way to interpret the phrase. That is what it is.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Dec 11, 2014, 08:37 AM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Disagree. It is overly PC.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Are you serious? It's not 'overly PC'? LMAO
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I wish there were a way to just hide/replace the title. You're right, it's just a thoughtless use of the phrase, not a problem with the actual post itself.
But it Clarice Starling says in "Silence of the Lambs", "It always matters."
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I was going to leave this until I read the comments made by the alerter.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerts like this is what makes DU suck. The post has nothing to do with sexism. Except in the mind of the alerter, where everything has to do with sexism.

(35,693 posts)"Panties in a twist" is a variation of "knickers in a knot" which is akin to "burr in your butt", etc. If your underwear is twisted/knotted you are going to be uncomfortable. "Panties" is kind of an old fashioned word like knickers and it just makes it funnier than saying "underwear." It has nothing to do with any references to emotional instability, male or female. That is the way I see it.

(37,748 posts)Well, I learned on DU yesterday that the U.S. did in fact, fight the revolutionary war so we didn't have to "see the royal couple on televised news programs" or use appropriate etiquette or manners around them...
No doubt, the civil war was fought to cement our right to act vulgar, whilst WW2 was fought to allow us the right not to be forced into napkin or utensil use while eating dinner.
I think a lot of people need to lighten up...
