(8,159 posts)They want to hear what the public thinks on how to improve SS and medicare (so they say LOL). Most people there were very low information folks as many elderly are in this area (foxx news wins out here). There were no real suggestions from the audience. Most folks seem to think America is being overrun buy "foreigners" taking their SS, and medicare fraud is also caused by "them".
When I suggested public option the moderator quickly changed the subject. When I said the reason we haven had raises (except for last year) is because it is pegged to inflation and not the actual costs involved in everyday life (FOOD). That didn't get any attention from the audience as they were hell bent of "gettin those foreigners" out.
I was called a socialist because I brought up Sweden/Denmark health care.
I give up.

(53,475 posts)It asks if you think we need to tinker with SS and Medicare a little or a lot, but does not ask what should be done. Use the comments to avoid having your opinions twisted.
I mentioned scrap the cap and treating health care the way that public utilities commissions treat utillities.
