Why Warren (STILL) Isn't Running for President

I thought this vote against the cromnibus would be a defining moment for Warren's potential to run for President. However, I believe the deal is done, and there are enough Democrats in the Senate that will push it through (maybe with some minor tweaks). The Senate has displayed much more bipartisanship than the House during this Congress. I think it's going to happen and Warren will most likely vote against it. She won't try to stop it (filibuster?), but she will vote against it.

But a stand against a spending bill does not a defining moment make. Furthermore, Warren has repeatedly denied she is running. I keep asking why? I also keep asking why the party is already bought into Clinton (disclaimer: I vehemently did not support Clinton during the 2008 election).

I believe the answer is because Warren was brought in by Obama to head the TARP program. They may be different in their position on the liberal spectrum, but they do see eye-to-eye on Wall Street reforms. She may not agree with the change to the election contribution and other financial aspects of the bill, but she does support Obama, and Obama won't let the government shut down over this (after the Supreme Court gutted McCain-Feingold, keeping the cap isn't really going to keep big money out at this point. And yes, of course, Warren has spoken against some of his decisions in the past, but she is in his camp.

I expect in the 2016 election, we'll see Warren in Hillary's camp, and Obama will likely campaign for her (after the primaries). I also suspect that Warren will be tapped for VP, which would bring the party together (akin to Romney running with a tea-party member as his VP). This outcome seems to answer many of the questions I have.

Anything can happen though, but signs are pointing in this direction.

1. Warren would be wasted as VP, marginalized. I would not want to vote for Hillary, no matter what.

I do not think the Democratic Party will ever be brought together now. Not if it means going along with the Third Way GOP-in-disguise corporate shit.

Believe why much of the Democratic establishment is pushing for her is because they believe she will be the most competitive, and the media coverage of her over the other potential candidates. I also believe that nothing is a given and Hillary can screw the nomination just like she did in 2008. I can think of a lot of scenarios where she could screw it up. The most obvious one was where she campaigned in 2008 that McCain would make better decisions than Obama on international issues and security. If she runs in 2016 and believes that criticizing the Obama administration will help her, I predict she well self destruct as she did in 2008

No way she would ever back Hill. She even disses her in her books. Hillary is what she's fighting, a Wall Street Dem.

We'll know in the first quarter of 2015 is my guess, thank god, & we can end this. Hillary isn't announcing until after her paid speech in March, I heard.

But until Elizabeth says "I'm not going to run for prez in 2016" I will believe her when she says "I'm not running." Because no one is. Yet.

Warren was brought in by Harry Reid to participate in a (relatively-toothless) committee to keep an eye on TARP and report back to Congress. She wasn't involved in TARP itself. I believe that the committee members themselves put her in charge of the committee.

Oh, and I'm reasonably confident she'll run.
