Maxine Waters: POTUS & JP Morgan whipped House Democrats on CROmnibus yesterday

In a sign of the importance of the issue to Wall Street banks, JPMorgan Chief Executive Jamie Dimon telephoned lawmakers on Thursday urging them to support passage of the spending bill, according to a person familiar with the calls.

“I think after the president and Jamie Dimon started calling, some people gave in,” Rep. Maxine Waters of California, the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee who voted against the bill, said after the vote.

But I read on DU that the only person ever in the world to oppose Wall St is a person who was voting for George Bush in the following election. Maxine, no mention. Funny how that works.

When a criminal (Wall Street and the Dimon's of the world of corruption) calls, they some in Congress & some in the Senate go on bended knee and listen to there master , when you or I call we get a DIAL TONE.

Warren was right Dodd -Frank was not perfect , because it should have broken these banks into little pieces----she is great, right along with Brown, Sanders

We have arrived at point where Congress threatens to shut down the American government, unless we agree to promise to reimburse Wall Street firms, with taxpayer funds, when they create speculative bubbles to enrich themselves and devastate the world economy in the process.

Privatized profit; socialized losses. This is what the Republican (and a disturbingly large portion of the Democratic) Party wants. Not "small government." Not self-reliance.

They want us -- the American people and our government -- to literally subsidize the theft of wealth by the rich, from the rest. And further, to not see this as a "redistribution of wealth" to be angry about. That is reserved for the few pennies flowing back to those in need.

This seems to a major point this being ignored here.

No, I don't like what the damn bastard Republicans are doing, but did Warren actually have votes to defeat this bill?

Was it worth shutting down the government and providing the Republicans a sledge hammer to pound the party into the ground? Would it have been a reasonable stand or a disaster? My only hope is that Elizabeth Warren makes a run for the nomination and along with Bernie Sanders forces the Democrats to once again become the party of the working class. Even if Hillary Clinton wins she will be challenged throughout her presidency to abandon any support for the Wall Street gangsters. I can't help from asking myself what would I have done when faced with this crappy situation? Even if I chose to support Warren, would I even get enough votes or have my own party defeat me? Our party is in a sad state of affairs with the majority of those in congress only major effort is to get reelected regardless if they have to sell out to the corporate interest.

I say good luck to the younger generation, we have left them a damn mess.

"Let us gamble with taxpayer money, or we will shut down the United States of America."

And still people are convinced to worry about pennies to help the poor or farmworkers lured here keep our produce cheap.

Wall Street took $4 trillion in middle-class wealth, inhaled it, belched, and is now telling us they will do it again ... or else.

When it comes to social issues he "democratic" more often than not....But when it comes to economic issues, the real issues that can change peoples lives and futures, he's a true blooded republican. Just look at his cabinet choices from the very beginning. And thats why I'm disgusted with him. Also off topic a bit, Hilary Clinton is Obama on steroids (economically speaking) and thats why under no circumstance will I vote for her. It's either Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders or just give it to the republican and maybe things will deteriorate so bad that in four years from then in 2020 more people will be mad as hell and a liberal revolution will happen. I am done voting for the least of two evils.

Our president once more siding with the 1% against the 99%. Sickening! Wish he'd show even an ounce of spine and passion for the working class. If he cared, he'd have been exhorting them to vote against the bill and it could have failed. No bill unless it's a clean bill worked for Clinton and for him once, why isn't he trying that again? Because he's not for us, is the only answer I come up with. Can anyone survive POTUS without getting coopted by the 1%? I hope Bernie or Elizbeth could, as that's who I will support for Pres. next time around.
