but for him to suggest that is how it was used here is pretty asinine.

What doctor recommended it? Why was the procedure medically necessary to use on these prisoners? Was the procedure performed in accordance established medical guidelines used in hospitals around the world? For some reason I get the feeling Hayden would not want to answer these questions.

About the only time I can think that you might consider it would be if the patient's mouth was so badly effed up you couldn't place a line, and they were so incredibly dehydrated that their veins were all collapsed so you couldn't get an IV in place to simply give it to them intravenously. You might be able to hydrate them enough that way to get to where you could place an IV, I guess.

I really doubt any of their detainees fit that description, though. He's stretching farther than Stretch Armstrong here.

I could see there may be some limited medical value when water is used, but I have a much harder time believing there is any medical value in shoving food up someone's ass.

by introducing too much fluids and washing out electrolytes.

At a hospital I worked out, a child was killed when too much fluid was introduced in the rectum from an enema (everyone involved lost their medical and nursing licenses).

I personally can't see any medical value in it.

I take care of a child who has had to have a couple of enemas so I do recognize the medical benefit of an enema, but they should only be used when necessary and proper medical procedures need to be followed.

This sounds like it goes far beyond an enema however, this sounds to me like rape.

And yes, I understand you are trying to stretch it but as a nurse also, I honestly can't see any value of it at all.
