to say it's a privilege not to be shot by the cops- well...

makes me think of how we now are talking about the low gas prices when it is still twice the price it was not too long ago

I think they were a little soft on this man. Especially with the gun and confrontational behavior. But it would be nice if they tried talking thru the situation first as they did here. They might have found out that a lot people they killed were not armed. But as you said, it's unfortunately the standard to pull up and kill. They save the talking for saving their own asses.

I never thought about the open carry aspect. That's pretty ironic. Can you imagine if they killed a gun nut carrying legally? It would be an armed tea party/militia response.

I’ve lived in Kalamazoo for decades. The cops did a good job with this case. I’ve seen them do an equally good job (first hand) involving folks “of color”. I can not say that that I agree with what is happening around the country, but here in Kalamazoo , Michigan, it is better…mostly.

I have actually never had any contact with K Zoo cops, so I can't say one way or the other. My beef is with these pull out and shoot instantly cops. Maybe I didn't communicate it well enough, but I actually wish cops everywhere used more of this type of approach if possible. They obviously got it right in the end since nobody fired a shot. I'm comparing this to the other recent execution style responses by police. These other guys were much less aggressive than this man, and none were bearing firearms.
