So theater chains are now not showing a movie because of terror threats????

Really, wow, that will be a great precedence to set. Every movie that pisses off some group will now be followed by a terror threat and the movie not shown.

These theatre owners REALLY think terror groups can pull of a "9/11 type attack" anytime they want and are just waiting for a movie to do it?

If they could pull off a 9/11 type attack at will, it would happen weekly.

Nothing says "you win" like this shit.

The Carmike Cinemas chain, which operates 278 theaters in 41 states, is now the first chain who will not be showing the film when it opens.

I'm not sure they should'nt show it--but wouldn't
that give you pause for just a second? No? Gungho and arm everybody in the audience and turn off the lights?

I live in a place where a kevlar wearing lunatic shot up a packed theater audience. Not even for any political reason, as far as we know.

Here is the "terror threat"...

Warning

We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places The Interview be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.

Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made.

The world will be full of fear. Remember the 11th of September 2001.

We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)

Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

All the world will denounce the SONY.

This would not prevent me from going to the movies.
1. "how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to." - Does this mean all your base are belong to us?

2. "Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made." - they may have a point, the movie may indeed be shit.

3. "The world will be full of fear. Remember the 11th of September 2001." - trust me, Faux News will never let me forget the 11th of September 2001. It justifies everything. Torture, murder, war for money, etc... It's all good.

4. "We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time." - I was a pretty detached person when my wife and I first met. She really go me to open up, and be a far more open less distant personality. I think it was a trust thing. Anyway, I'll be damned if I am going to go back to that way of thinking.

5. "Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment." - Would this include their electronics division? If so... Should I pick up that new Playstation I have been eying up now? Or can I wait until after the holidays? Also, if nothing comes, would that nothing come in the coming days, be called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment as well?

6. "All the world will denounce the SONY" - We're not talking satan here right? I mean the WHOLE world will denounce SONY? I could understand Toshiba, they have shitty service, but SONY? Really? Cause I really liked Ghostbusters. Bill Murray makes me laugh.

Is this "threat" worth paying attention to? It reads like the tantrum of a petulant child. I'm sure Dear Leader wrote something similar when he found peas in his chicken pot pie. Dear Leader does not eat peas!

I believe this is the future for America. Eventually, everything that used to be a reason for gathering as a community will become a reason for gathering safely online, at home.

I'm surprised that the non-premier of a movie is getting anyone all riled up.

The CIA torture report showed that terrorism has already profoundly changed how America operates in the world. A look at the Patriot Act shows how American liberties have been shelved in the alleged fight against terrorism.

Now we are supposed to get excited because Sony can't premier its film due to hacking threats (specifically, the hacking the computer systems of the movie houses that show the film, far as I could tell.)

Amidst the bombshells and bonfires extinguishing human rights and civil liberties so for in the "war on terrorism" forgive me if I have difficulty getting exercised by a threat from hackers, or by whatever self-serving response the corporate sector might make to it.

I love the TSA so much... I gave (confiscated) a jar of huckleberry jam and a set of plastic camping utensils. Funny thing was, that on the flight (I upgraded to first class) they gave me a metal knife to eat with that was twice the size of the plastic one they took away from me.

From @TSAgov on Twitter (Parody Account)

- #TSA #Priorities / Saving America > Lunch > Your Rights.

- Next time you want to complain about a #TSA agent, just remember things could be worse. We could be NYPD cops.

I do not know what Sony was thinking when they funded, filmed and released this and obviously they are completely in the dark about the dynamics of North Korea also leaders in countries such as North Korea, Iran, Russia, Syria and other despotic nations are not going to invite American Journalists in their countries or talk to the journalists after see this, it also puts journalists, tourists and even covert assets who may still be operating in those countries in jeopardy.

Everything about this movie puts a lot of good people and jeopardy and has been nothing but a disaster for the Sony corporation, contractors and employees, it also opens the door for other countries and groups to threaten and bully us into not releasing films on certain subjects.

As for the source of the attack, its very likely that this hack attack came from CHINA since they are the main supporters of the North Korean regime.

With that said I have to respect the Sony corp for exercising their first amendment right and standing by releasing it after the fact, they should not be cowered and bullied by the likes of a fat slob who can barely walk because his tiny legs cannot handle his massive body weight while keeping the people of his country in absolute poverty.

I do not know what Sony was thinking when they funded, filmed and released this and obviously they are completely in the dark about the dynamics of North Korea - Look, I saw the remake of Red Dawn too, but this is nothing new. Movie companies have been making movies about despots and their nations for a very long time. There is no reason to stop now.

Also leaders in countries such as North Korea, Iran, Russia, Syria and other despotic nations are not going to invite American Journalists in their countries or talk to the journalists after see this - Really? I guess Dear Leader will just have to settle for a very drunk Dennis Rodman, popping up and doing his best impression of "leave Brittany alone!"

it also puts journalists, tourists and even covert assets who may still be operating in those countries in jeopardy. - I've always been under the impression that "covert assets" were pretty much in danger long before two stoners got together and made a movie. I think it's in the job description. "Must have a strong work ethic, must be able to lift 50lbs, you may get shot, hung, imprisoned, open enrollment for 401(k) is after 90 days of employment..."

Everything about this movie puts a lot of good people and jeopardy and has been nothing but a disaster for the Sony corporation, contractors and employees. - Nothing but a disaster? I think they will do fine. Yes they were hacked. It happens. I recall Home Depot was recently hacked... That was pretty bad to. Did Home Depot piss off Dear Leader as well?

it also opens the door for other countries and groups to threaten and bully us into not releasing films on certain subjects. - Also, doing nothing or giving into the demands will open that door even wider.

As for the source of the attack, its very likely that this hack attack came from CHINA since they are the main supporters of the North Korean regime. - So are you saying that CHINA is going to pee in the soda fountain at the movie theaters?

With that said I have to respect the Sony corp for exercising their first amendment right and standing by releasing it after the fact, they should not be cowered and bullied by the likes of a fat slob who can barely walk because his tiny legs cannot handle his massive body weight while keeping the people of his country in absolute poverty. - I agree... Maybe we can get Dear Leader a sled or Red Ryder wagon so we can drag his Dear Leaderness to the movie for a good laugh.

As far as I'm aware all of the characters in Red Dawn were fictional and was not about plotting to assassinate the current despotic leader of a state also the villains in Red Dawn were originally Chinese but the studios changed it to North Korean.

I think the assassination theme is what caught the attention of these people, whoever they are *cough* China *cough*.

Really? I guess Dear Leader will just have to settle for a very drunk Dennis Rodman, popping up and doing his best impression of "leave Brittany alone!"

Yes, really. They did invite a CNN camera crew in to talk to Kenneth Bae, Syrian despot Bashar al-Assad did invite Charlie Rose for an interview, the Iranians did invite CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour and NBC reporter Ann Curry to Tehran for interviews. These countries may be less likely to do that since this movie was released.

Nothing but a disaster? I think they will do fine. Yes they were hacked. It happens. I recall Home Depot was recently hacked... That was pretty bad to. Did Home Depot piss off Dear Leader as well?

This is a lot more serious than just credit cards being obtained. The Sony data dumps contain very private emails, business records, personal information about employees, reasons for termination, health records, social security numbers, etc.

Sony was hit hard and will continue to be in the form of law suits from currently employees, ex-employees, contractors and so on.

The Target and Home Depot hacks are nothing compared to this.

So are you saying that CHINA is going to pee in the soda fountain at the movie theaters?

No, I'm saying that the hack could have been conducted or orchestrated by CHINA since they're the only country in the region with the resources to pull this off without being noticed also North Korea is nothing more than a buffer zone for China.

I agree... Maybe we can get Dear Leader a sled or Red Ryder wagon so we can drag his Dear Leaderness to the movie for a good laugh.

Hey we agree on something

Well, let's look back at movies with real dictators in them...

Charlie Chaplin's - The Great Dictator was released while Hitler was alive. Of course we were not worried about him bombing the shit out of anything, because he already was.

Jack Benny's - To be or not to be was also released while Hitler was alive.

Woody Allen's - Bananas was released while Castro was in power. I don't recall Castro bombing the crap out of anything.

Jim Abrahams' - Hot Shots Part Deux was released while Saddam was in power. Nothing fell from the sky.

Parker and Stone's - Team America: World Police where Dear Leader's father - Dear Leader was depicted in a comedy, where he was killed only to split open and reveal that he is actually a cockroach from the planet Gyron. The senior Dear Leader did not unleash a nuclear fury over it as I recall.

Hollywood has been pissing off dictators for quite some time. It is par for the course. These countries also release their own versions where American leaders are made fun of. Again, par for the course.

Argo pissed off Iran
Borat pissed off Kazakhstan
Seven Years in Tibet pissed off China
etc...

To me it's a movie. I may even see it who knows. I do not think that anything is going to fall out of the sky if it is shown in movie theaters. I may be wrong, but we cannot run and hide every time a Kim Jong tosses a temper tantrum.

has occurred to them and every other country. I do not see a stupid comedy like this having a significant effect on how they are treated.

What has the the Government said about these so called threats?

I know the media is reporting that this group is making threats, I would like to know what the administration has said about the validity of them.

Right now it seems to me that this Cinema chain (and it seems a few others) are reacting based solely on what the media is reporting of this hacking group.

So, until I get more information, I think they are being cowardly.

If the government says this is a threat, (IE: This administration) I am more likely to understand not showing the film. Right now they just look scared.

To bow down due to terrorist threats is as anti-American as one can get. Fuck this shit, before I wouldn't have seen the dumb movie but now I want it to be shown everywhere.

Release movie to all online rentals for $10 instead of the usual $3 or $4.

I don't even want to see it but would rent to support Sony against this.

Well, actually, it was threatening to suck.

But that's no reason to go all nine-eleven all over the place.

After some thought I figured it all out.

1. This has really pissed off Dear Leader.
2. This movie is slated to open to the public on Christmas Day.
3. The International Date Line is located along the 180 degree meridian
4. Since the day starts at the IDL, Christmas begins in the far east.
5. So, it will be Christmas first in New Zealand and western Russia, then on to Australia.
6. If that movie opens as planned, Dear Leader will be none-too-pleased at this point.
7. Within a few hours it will be Christmas in Japan and shortly after that in Korea
8. Now Norad tracks Santa every year for the whole world to see. http://www.noradsanta.org/
9. What happens when Korea uses this information, and Santa is in missile range?
10. Boom! He blows Santa and all the reindeer out of the sky...
11. Christmas is ruined forever.

Save Christmas!!! Close all of the movie theaters!!!
