I loved that he had that veteran guy on what will be one of his most-watched shows, and Stephen briefly stepped out of character and actually criticized that character. I haven't seen him do that before

And the crazy thing is I'm not a religious viewer of either Colbert or the Daily Show. But when I was up at the right time and remembered they were on, I definitely tuned in.

I think this is a case of not knowing what you have until it's truly gone, in my case .

I hope Steve kicks copious amounts of ass at his new job next year! At least he'll still be on TV for us.

always a surprise with Colbert - and Randy Newman among the cast of thousands - Afghanistan troops too!!!
But still - for a show that brought sense to a crazy world.

Didn't see Hillary or Elizabeth Warren in the end. I thought both were brilliant in the Report.

I saw:

- Bryan Cranston
- Big Bird
- The entire cast of The Newsroom
- JJ Abrams
- Smaug
- Jon Stewart
- Willie Nelson
- Neil DeGrasse Tyson
- John Legend
- Keith Olbermann
- Michale Stipe
- Jeff Tweedy
- Kareem Abdul Jabar
- Martin Short
- Patrick Stewart
- George Lucas
- Tim Meadows

That was just a few I could see. I love the Colberto Reporto Gigante homage too.

And I'm shedding tears here! Best damn political satirist I've ever seen! Colbert is a stone-cold patriot!

You can call me Ry, if you like: it's #1 what my wife calls me, and #2 rhymes with the kind of whiskey I prefer. (But usually? Just give me a cold beer!)

May sound ridiculous but he helped keep me sane as the world becomes more insane. And I laughed and learned through his brilliance and amazing moral compass.

We probably have lost another voice of reason. I don't know how he will keep the Powers that Be at bay on CBS - he will have to take the middle ground.

I hope I'm wrong. I love that man!! Thanks, Stephen for all you have done!!
