(38,613 posts)I loved that he had that veteran guy on what will be one of his most-watched shows, and Stephen briefly stepped out of character and actually criticized that character. I haven't seen him do that before

(8,601 posts)And the crazy thing is I'm not a religious viewer of either Colbert or the Daily Show. But when I was up at the right time and remembered they were on, I definitely tuned in.
I think this is a case of not knowing what you have until it's truly gone, in my case .
I hope Steve kicks copious amounts of ass at his new job next year! At least he'll still be on TV for us.

(139 posts)And I'm shedding tears here! Best damn political satirist I've ever seen! Colbert is a stone-cold patriot!

(139 posts)You can call me Ry, if you like: it's #1 what my wife calls me, and #2 rhymes with the kind of whiskey I prefer. (But usually? Just give me a cold beer!)

(580 posts)May sound ridiculous but he helped keep me sane as the world becomes more insane. And I laughed and learned through his brilliance and amazing moral compass.
We probably have lost another voice of reason. I don't know how he will keep the Powers that Be at bay on CBS - he will have to take the middle ground.
I hope I'm wrong. I love that man!! Thanks, Stephen for all you have done!!
