Geraldo Rivera's Vile Statement

My gut is filled with fury at the execution of the two NYPD officers. This was premeditated murder; an assasination (sic) of two innocent cops with families who were just doing their job. Hopefully we've caught or killed the perps.

Now every person who protested against alleged police violence has to ask themselves, protestor and official alike, did something I did or said help lead to this? Did I add to the swirl of anti-police hatred that led this scumbag to commit an act of terror? Those photographed screaming in cops faces or those leaders who enabled this vitriol to fester, how do you feel about your rhetoric and your misdirected fury?

2 cops are dead, what will those leaders and protestors (sic) do now?

1. Begging the question...

why is anything that the "Esteemed" Mr. Rivera say or states worthy of note?

Does he have a right to his opinion, Yes.

Do I have to bother with him or what he says, No.

This is what Geraldo and his racist conservative cohorts are putting out there.

It's truly despicable.

They have to be called out on it, every last one of them.

21. The MSM will trample us 24/7 now...

Any peaceful protesting momentum we had will take 5 steps backward...they will use this domestic origin shooting to inflame the public as a cop execution conducted by a protestor. No lesson will be learned...protestors will be met with increased force now.

... and they are trying to taint the movement

They want to make the face of the person who murdered the officers the face of the entire movement. And we can't let that happen. We must mourn the deaths of the officers, condemn their murders, but continue the fight for civil rights.

11. Two things:

1. Nothing like a couple of cops getting killed to crush dissent against police. Did it ever cross your mind that the alleged killer didn't do it and that it was a hit organized by parties wanting to create sympathy for the police and create a demand for "law and order"?

2. "movement to protect the rights and lives of African-Americans..."

Uh, screw all of the innocent other races (Hispanic, white, Indian, Asian, etc) killed by cops in this country, eh? Is this about race for you or the police state? More innocent people have been killed by cops in the past decade than all of the US troops killed in Iraq. Don't even get me started on the thousands of dogs. We live in a Nazi police state and making it only about race (black Americans) is racist and indicates everyone else murdered, beaten and molested by these monsters don't matter.

20. African Americans are the most frequenct victims though

It is racism, racism towards people of color mostly, and African Americans are the most visible people of color. Not being argumentative, just stating the obvious.

Rogue cops seem to be really trigger happy when it comes to African American men especially it's a shoot first, don't even bother to ask questions later mentality.

And no one should dare question their actions either.

23. Not true

While racism is sometimes a factor, far more not black people are murdered by cops. It's a police state issue and We the People are the enemy. Not that color should matter, anyway. An innocent life taken by these thugs is what matters. Would you feel any better about our Nazi police state if all of their victims were white or Hispanic? No! We have to stick together as HUMAN BEINGS because we are all at risk.

24. Of course we have to stick together to fight police killings . . .

but what do you mean by your title "Not True"?

I said I was stating the obvious that African American men are the most frequent victims of police brutality and killings. That is absolutely true, and racism is a huge part of it.

This is no new phenomenon to the black community. This has been going on for decades, if not centuries and is a direct legacy of slavery, patty rollers and the Dread Scott decision "blacks have no rights which a white man is bound to respect" from Emmett Till to Tamir Rice it continues.

I repeat, it's not new to the black community. We've been living in "occupied" neighborhoods for forever here.

The "police state" issue has come to the fore in recent years with the advent of security cameras and cell phone cameras everywhere recording police killings and brutality and the larger community is suddenly aware of it.

That is great!

I welcome that there is more awareness of it now and more people are joining the fight against the "police state", but trust me, it's not new at all to the black community.

59. By a strict count of the numbers, more white males are victims of police brutality than black males.

What I think your point is is that black males are PROPORTIONALLY more likely to be victims of police brutality than white males. That is also true.

Basically, let's say the police hit 1 out of 10 black males and they hit 1 out of 30 white males. In that scenario, blacks would be 3 times as likely than whites to be hit.

However, let's say in a given population there are 20 black males and 90 while males. Statistically, 2 black males and 3 white males will be hit. Thus, more white males got hit.

It is like the food stamps meme. Whites make up the majority of food stamp recipients. Blacks are disproportionately reflected in the percentage of food stamp recipients. Law of large numbers ......

66. Now every cop...

Now every cop who did nothing while bad cops beat, tortured and murdered people has to ask themselves...did I contribute to the death of these officers? Protesting is not wrong...shooting unarmed dark skinned kids as in Ohio is wrong.
