The Oligarchs may use Artificial Intelligence advances to suppress the wages of American jobs

The oligarchs already used automation and cheap overseas labor to break down labor's power in America. With the advances in automation, it may not just be that the oligarchs want to replace up to 50% of jobs in America with machines, but that it at the least can be used as a terror threat to suppress the wages of Americans and keep Americans at the mercy of the leash.

Such a threat was already delivered when the idea of a $15 minimum wage was going around California:

Video showing the advances in computer artificial intelligence that will eventually render many jobs obsolete or at threat of being replaced by computers within the next five years:

1. From "The Tempest"

O wonder!
How many godly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't.

3. It wouldn't surprise me to know it's already been applied.

It would explain why the minimum wage is so much less than a living wage.

4. That will be the real face of AI.

Not red-eyed Terminators, not bullet-dodging Matrix Agents...just increasingly far-sighted and diabolical economic decisions by the ultra-wealthy via their algorithms, leading to ever-expanding poverty and social destruction.

5. It's up to us to refuse to let them.

Grocery store putting in 'do it yourself' lines? Refuse to use them and instead stay in the lines with real cashiers, even if longer.

Ditto fast food places that replace humans. If they replace them all, simply stop going there, but be sure management knows why you stopped, and how much a month you used to spend there.

10. I agree

I refuse to use the self-checkout lines at the grocery store and in Home Depot, where they make you use the self-checkout, I always play dumb and ask for help. I've noticed I'm not alone.

7. So where's the oligarchs' profit going to come from? The model of a few high-paid

employees & some robots being the workforce + some capitalists = no profit = no capitalism.

11. Keep the technology and get rid of capitalism

The oligarchy should be relieved of their wealth and the responsibility that comes with having so much.
Once labor becomes obsolete then capitalism becomes obsolete right along with it. How will the economy work when nobody except a very few people have any money at all?

12. It's called progress

I'm not trying to be snarky, but this is nothing new. When I was a kid in the 50s all the banks had row after row of tellers and when I made a deposit from the money I made peddling papers the teller had to enter my transaction in my deposit book, add my new balance in a separate column and then do the same in the bank's records, and at the end of the day the teller had to review all their transactions and make sure the debits and credits from the day equaled the money in her drawer. VERY time consuming and subject to error. Today this is all done by computers, often online, and many of us never have to visit a bank for months. Consequently a LOT of bank jobs were lost to automation. The same can be said of bookkeepers, and secretaries.

Don't blame the "oligarchs" for this, replacing labor with more efficient, more accurate, automation is what any good businessperson would do. The question is, at what point will the need for labor drop below the number of workers who need a job to survive? This is scary to me because I know the oligarchs (the real ones) are going to want to do as little as possible for the unemployed, even if it means the unemployed and their families slowly starve and die young, in fact that would be seen as a plus.

I don't have an answer but we need to begin thinking about solutions soon.
