How could he possibly be as good a Mayor of New York as a Republican? After all, if they can win NYC, they may win the state?

The Republican Party, and their toadies in the media, are affixing blame to De Blasio for the murders of the two cops the other day. It is all part of a larger strategy of portraying Democrats as weak on crime and antagonistic toward America's police forces.

It is a national story and the GOP will whip it for all it is worth. Basically, they are saying that De Blasio's comments about his son's interactions with the police had more to do with the murders of the two cops than did the murder of Eric Garner, who was choked to death by NYC cops. And the murder of Michael Brown and the following marches and riots had nothing to do with the murder of the two cops? It was the fault of the marchers and Mayor De Blasio. If they had just kept their mouths shut...

We should not expect the toadies to ask about the mental state of the murderer and how he was able to attain a gun to commit such a crime? No. It is much easier to make it a political issue and blame De Blasio.

It's a big part of how they drive up majorities in the South, and now they're rolling it out on a national basis. That demographic bomb where the GOP can't win with a more diverse electorate? Their strategy is to pull 90% of the white vote by scaring people about police shootings and telling them that Democrats will let loose "thugs" to storm the suburbs and farms and kill all your families.

If young white people refuse to buy into this racist nonsense, the GOP's strategy will backfire. I'm not sure I have enough confidence to say it will happen.
