Sanford commissioners reject chief of police resignation over Trayvon Martin case

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this. It's good ole boy behavior to circle the wagons when someone does a major clusterfuck, because the attitude is, if one goes down, they all go down.

Sanford city commissioners voted 3-2 to reject Police Chief Bill Lee's resignation over the controversial Trayvon Martin investigation.

Mayor Jeff Triplett, and commissioners Patty Mahany and Randy Jones voted to not accept the resolution that would have allowed City Manager Norton Bonaparte to let Lee resign as chief of police.

Commissioners Velma Williams and Mark McCarty voted to accept the resignation.

The embattled Sanford Police Department chief had offered the resignation earlier today, a month after he stepped down temporarily amid the growing Trayvon Martinshooting controversy.
