Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDear MSNBC: I will not watch Michael Steele host any show. ever.
I already refuse to tune in for any show with Chuck Todd and Joe Scarborough. MSNBC seems to be giving me plenty of reasons not to watch these days...
what is going on with that??

(3,741 posts)Steele has softened, toned down, his obnoxious personality somewhat but I still remember him when he was supporting GWB as Republican Party Chairman. He and his ilk are some of the biggest lying sacks of you know what..... who needs to hear him anymore, haven't we had a belly full already?
MSNBC is getting desperate if they think Steele will bring in viewers. I suggest that they should combine Rachel and Lawrence on one show for a 2hour slot and cover more then news .... include culture stuff from around the US and more investigative journalism stories. Maybe even team up with the BBC or Canadian CBC on some things, giving the show variety of interesting news stories, instead of grinding away on the same stories over and over in each show.

Which says more about the Republican Party in the 21st Century than it does about Steele himself.

(81,220 posts)I wrote to NBC News about michael steele. And of course the first guest on his show was that smug, snarky john feehery. YUCK. ANOTHER republi-CON!!! I turned it off then and there. Didn't come back til the hour was over.
Hey, if I want to watch republi-CONS, I know I can go to Pox Noise. They are reliably like that. But I do NOT expect that of MSNBC.
Wonder how far their ratings dumped for that time slot yesterday?
michael steele isn't just an opportunist. I suspect his own party didn't want him. Can't have GOP'ing while black. And they probably regard him as a RINO. If he were considered a valuable ex-RNC chair or GOP figure at all, he'd be on Pox. Probably with his own show.

(174 posts)They are not scorched earth, psycho, lying Republican scum, like pretty much the rest of "their" party.
Just simply Republicans who are simply wrong about everything. Their "opinion" should still
be heard, as long as they are not fire breathing haters, like all of their friends.
Toned down? Maybe? Still they need to be heard, even if they are wrong, as long as they
can have a conversation without lying their asses off.
Neither Steele, or Schmidt has ever told a direct lie that I can remember, and I watch a lot
of MSNBC. They just spout discredited talking points...... Like those aren't lies, well......
Keep them on. We need to hear what the right wing has to say, as long as they are nice.
Hosting a show? Nah.

(8,434 posts)I can honestly say I've not watched one minute of it in months, not even on election day.
I'm done with a "news" source that allows ANY reporter to allow blatant lies without question. The worst offender in my opinion is Matthews. The right wingers have an agenda and I get that, but Matthews wants to come across as a real journalist, but only speaks over every guest so no question is ever actually answered.
Fuck MSNBC especially. I expect CNN and FOX to lie to me. I kept waiting for MSNBC to step up and be a real news source. They have failed. They continue to change lineups to support that failure.

I get the impression he is much smarter than he is given credit for.

(30 posts)After the last go round with(the man what ate NJ). When the story was all about his big mouth and not about why he is sitting on 80% of all the recovery money. msnbc is more worried about ratings than the news. So I gave them a big F.O.

(10,597 posts)... a negative reaction to his sitting in for Matthews. Stupid thing for either Chris or MSNBC to do, but they live in this little world of their own. They have no idea how the public will react to their decisions on subs. MSNBC lost a bunch of viewers over this. So be it. I just hope their lost viewers find the rich alternative news media that does exist now.
Happy New Year, Enthusiast!

So I say bullshit. If MSNBC is going to fill up the screen with Neo-Nazis I will quit watching completely.
MSNBC threw Olbermann, Cenk and Donahue off the air because they wouldn't push the official Fascist lies. History has proven those three were correct.
Yet MSNBC allows the Righties to lie continually.
This is literally the same thing that a certain Clinton supporter has been saying: "STFU and take it, cause it could be worse."
I mean, you've got the whole post just right, from the loud proclamation of support, to an immediate demand for an alternative (and of course, no response will come if one is given), and the whole "go get your own party then" bit after.
Well done, I say.
Addressing your post: you know, MSNBC could also just be real journalists and actually provide some decent news, like they say they do. I'm not interested in your defense of yet another corporate channel emerging.

(94,503 posts)Is there a requirement for Republicans to host a show on MSNBC? Trash the GOP and you can anchor a program? Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele on Monday lectured his party about bigotry, wondering, "Is the Republican Party finally ready to confront the issue of race in America?"
Filling in for Chris Matthews (and sounding like him), Steele sneered, "In many respects, the party's clinging to an old Southern strategy that proved the basis for electoral success in the past but which gives them little chance of winning the White House in the future." Speaking for the GOP, the former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland asserted that "we still seem to have these vestiges within the party that cling onto the strategy where there's this focus, almost pull towards" a "polarizing moment where you're almost separated between whites and blacks."

MSNBC must think if we just listen to Michael we will become convinced. It. Will. Not. Happen.
