Fox News is still dark on Dish, but subscribers have been offered an alternative.

Dish is broadcasting The Blaze in place of Fox News during their dispute with 21st Century Fox.

The Blaze was founded by Glenn Beck after he left Fox News in 2011. The Blaze is available online, and is carried by several TV providers, including Dish.

They are just "preparing the battlefield" for the next two years of only Obama standing in the way.

I cannot stand Glenn Beck. Of course I also hate Fox. But my Fox affiliate carries some sports programming that I consider essential.

In my community Time Warner is the only cable available.

And would not have known this. The channel is missing from the list choices on my remote unless you choose ALL CHANNELS. For those of you who criticize DISH as a choice, the cable people do not think we are worth the trouble, not enough houses on our road.

Since moving to the small California town of Lodi, I have been going to a coffee shop every morning. I meet with about a dozen people who I consider all good and decent friends. Their only shortcoming is their politics, as they listen to Limbaugh and Fox news on a daily basis, and they always make right wing comments. I have not revealed that my son and I are roaring liberals and I doubt that they suspect this. Their remarks are usually a reference as to how incompetent Obama is as president, and once politics is removed from the conversation, they return to the decent people that I enjoy. Revealing my politics would be pointless, and arguing would not change this, and discussions on the weather, families and friends dominates. I spent my working career in Silicon Valley and my friends were all professional Engineers like myself. The people that I have met in Lodi are all working class High School graduates and they all had very successful careers in primarily farming related fields. Get these people beyond politics and they are enjoyable.

Most wingers that I've ever met were either utterly racist, misogynistic assholes or completely unapologetic morons.

Sometimes both.

It must be refreshing to be able to interact with a winger of a much higher caliber.

And if we stay off politics, they are nice people and I enjoy their company. We have plenty of discussions on other things.

My family is a different story. We can't have a discussion on anything that doesn't turn into a litany of Fox talking points. Even the weather isn't a safe topic, because I start hearing the climate-change denier shit. And apparently, Obama is responsible for everything bad -- even the traffic.
