GOP Racist Overrated As A Negative. It IS Still Winning Them Elections.

Race baiting and open blatant racism is still a winner for GOP. Despite resignations and other racial kerfuffles it looks like their open hatred of minorities is still a winner. They still won big in 2014 despite it being obvious that that the GOP is a white supremacist religious fundamentalist party. And if looks like red states will remain GOP for the foreseeable future.

The fact that the GOP has the media and press on their side and Fox news on everywhere you go means their message will continue to dominate the scene. They are able to paint Dems as the racial party and minority party that is giving away free money of white voters over to undeserving people. You keep hearing that meme over and over and over again 24/7 and then some.

I keep hearing this meme voiced mostly by white voters that the don't want to pay for someone else's health care that includes other things as well. Phoney tax cuts for this white voter population plays well even though the cuts really are not there but are disguised cuts for the rich.

Everything coming from the GOP is about that racial divide that is exploited. Even the controversy about police killings of blacks and minorities has been framed as a failure of minorities to obey the laws. Blacks and minorities are portrayed as THE problem and not racial profiling.

As much backlash about GOP racial failures, many white voters seem to accept and even support GOP positions on race. If racial issues really really mattered and hurt the GOP they would lose many of these elections. Recent outcomes would seem to show that open racism is really a winner for too many voters.

They sure are good at capitalizing on certain wedge issues... learning how to effectively "anti-troll" some of their troll-ish wedge arguments would go a long way from a campaigning stand point.

generation to the next. It is rooted in fear. I think you have to give up on old White racists and consentrate on the younger people. If they can stop passing it down to their kids I think we can get to a better place. It will take at least two more generations I think to end racism if the young people work at it. My age group the boomers contain racists and non racists and that is how we are going to die.

election.

We have a government elected by a majority of "THOSE WHO VOTE."

Sizable chunks of the Democratic voting block do not vote in every election. In 2014, older more conservative voters went to the polls in disproportionately large numbers. Younger and more liberal voters (Under 40) that turned out in the 2012 and 2008 Presidential election did not vote.

That is why Republicans win elections. Their constituents are more likely to vote.

Too many are racist and fundie, for sure.

But it's the power of money and corporate influence that is deciding elections these days. They own the media, courts, and legislatures to ensure grievous gerrymandering and a constant onslaught of propaganda.

Not only are whites becoming less of a majority, a generation of whites that is 80% racist (at least in the South) is dying off. That generation will be replaced with one that is 60% racist, then 40%, then 20%, and eventually a negligible minority.

They know they will eventually need something else, that's why they have latched on so tightly to the anti-abortion and gun-rights crowds.

In multi ethnic societies political parties line up by race and ethnicity.

In our Federal system two parties are inevitable. The Rethigs want to be the white party while painting us Dems as the racial minority and aggrieved whites party. It is working.

Unlike the posters above, I would like to think that racial prejudice is a learned behavior. In my look at the science it isn't. It seems innate, part of in group preference. I have been to a goodly part of the world and have read about the rest and racual animosity seems darn close to universal. Russian hate Chechens, Han hate Tibetans, Hutu hate Tutsi, Japanese hate Koreans etc. Etc. Etc.
