My dear, sweet friend, a domestic violence survivor

http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012304240013&nclick_check=1

We have been through much together, she and I...and I am so proud of her for this video. I know her well, and her heart was in her mouth the entire time, even though her tormentor is long dead.

We do our work, one survivor at at time. There is hope.

She cannot fix her life, but she is dedicated to helping others. I admire her to the nth degree.

I wish I could read the poem but the picture isn't big enough on my monitor.... the lovely smile on her face shows that the process of writing it and showing her collage in the art show along with the works of other survivors meant a lot to her.

And a reminder that Republican opposition to renewal of VAWA is as strong as ever.

I was a victim of domestic abuse many years ago and her words really reflect how I felt at the time. I never knew what would set my ex off.

I am also a survivor, although that isn't how I came to know Elaine.

I am very glad you are out of your abusive relationship. I hope you continue to heal.
