I appreciate that the DP is a contentious issue and could accept it being abolished if more than 50% of resident's voted it away.

I think just a few percentage points divides most states on this issue.

their two murderers just recently. It upset LOTS of people to relive it. The husband/father who survived testified emotionally before the state legislature against repeal of the the death penalty. Everyone deeply respects that man and took his objections seriously. As it stands now, the two murderers would still get death as it doesn't apply to those already on death row.

It was quite something that the measure passed. I favor the new law and think it is a step in the right direction. Besides, CT prides itself on being progressive, even tho it was not always the case when you remember that CT was the only remaining state that banned birth control and its draconian law was the one that gave us the Griswold decision.
