Biden: President Obama has a "big stick"

GREENWICH VILLAGE — Nuclear missiles aren't the only thing in his arsenal.

Gaffe-prone vice president Joe Biden put his foot in his mouth once again Thursday — telling a room packed with students at NYU that President Barack Obama "has a big stick."

The belly laugh-inducing blunder came when Biden was speaking about the need to maintain international pressure on Iran during a 45-minute address at the law school's Vanderbilt Hall.

"Now is the time to heed the timeless advice from Teddy Roosevelt: 'Speak softly and carry a big stick,' end of quote," Biden said.

"I promise you, the president has that big stick," he continued, sparking snickering and applause.

The battleship, USS Iowa, was called THE BIG STICK during that war, because of it's firing power.

on it.

But yeah, the reaction is expected. Although I think it's funny, I wish Obama would have said "and that's what he's doing" or something like that. Not really important, though, and good for a laugh.

I had no idea how many amazing things this administration has done regarding foreign relations because no one in the media ever reports on it - yet when W was in office that was all that we heard.

Yes Biden should have used a different phrase to make his point - but geesh - he is Biden - and inspite of saying things like this, the rest of the speech is what people should be focused on.

if you haven't seen it.
