Clinton

Few names in American politics rise to the same level of recognition or evoke the same level of emotion - good or bad - as the name Clinton.

Two powerhouses, married to each other. America's Power Couple, to be sure.

Tonight, one of the most disgustingly Clinton-obsessed people I know, Chris Matthews, showed how he remains in the thrall of them. He's been a harsh critic and a slobbering, drooling, outsider pretending - no, hoping desperately - to be on the inside.

There is the famous tale of his meeting Hillary Clinton at a fundraiser. He had been going on and on about her for mostly inconsequential bullshit during the last Democratic primary, insulting her relentlessly. She quipped, at one point, that he was obsessed with her. (He was and is.) So at this fundraiser he walked up to her, held out his hand, and, instead of "hello" said "Its not obsession." She looked at him icily, then smiled, patted his shoulder condescendingly, and said with total dismissiveness, "Weeeell. That's good," turned, and walked away.

So tonight, this little man has a whole segment wherein he's just certain that she'll be making a white house run again in 2016.

Chris . . . . you're worse than a dog with a bone. Hillary is in the fourth year as the singularly most traveled Secretary of State in history. She's presided over significant foreign policy victories, and all the while been the model of a loyal member of Obama's administration.

She's certainly the hardest working woman, and arguably the hardest working person, in Washington.

So she's leaving office in January, of her own accord. She's not laid out any plans, so Matthews invents some just so he can talk about her again and again. Never mind there's no evidence. Never mind she has said, repeatedly, she's not running in 2016. Never mind that she'll be 70 years old. Never mind any of that.

I've sworn off watching this little, little man. More than a year ago I stopped watching him. Maybe more than two years. But tonight, the teevee was just on and his show was there.

Once again, he demonstrates why the best thing for any of us is turn this wind bag off.

And Matthews, if any of your staff reads this, please take my advice. Stop with the Clintons. You're not worthy to call them a cab. You look like a desperate fanboy, not a smart political commentator.

She is playing it coyly to get through this election, so that she can make whatever decision she wants to next year.

I could care less what she is planning on doing after she leaves State next year, but there is always going to be speculation.

So are you part of the O'Malley 2016 team??

BTW, what happens if Obama has the election stolen from him this fall. Would he run again in 2016?? Interesting question. It would surely keep Tweety's leg tingling for a long time!! He'll probably die from leg tingling!
