Biden to Romney “Dude, you are so 1975"; and “If you Plan war with Iran, tell us Now”

Vice President Joe Biden attacked Mitt Romney’s foreign policy ideas on Thursday.

Romney’s policies are to send tens of thousands of troops back into Iraq, and to antagonize Moscow. He had once said that he wouldn’t pay millions to kill or capture Bin Laden. Biden quipped that if Romney had been president the US auto industry might have been dead but Bin Laden alive.

Biden began by defending Barack Obama on foreign policy, pointing to his withdrawal from Iraq, his plans for drawdown in AFghanistan, his killing of Usama Bin Laden, and the way his administration has raised the esteem of the United States abroad. Biden said that Romney, who keeps referring to the Russian Federation as the ‘Soviet Union,’ of having a ‘Cold War mindset.’

Romney’s campaign supporters actually inadvertently backed up Biden’s point. Pierre Prosper (a former Bush ambassador), said that Obama had appeased Russia by abandoning the plan for a missile defense in “Czechoslovakia” (try to find that on the map nowadays).

4. Moderate, intelligent Republicans like Huntsman don't go far

because they don't appeal to the lunatic fringe. Actually, they're not the fringe if they're the majority, and that's the problem. Democrat candidates have to appeal to a more (and I hate sounding like I'm on a high horse) moderate minded constituency. The Republicans have to not only appeal to the ultra-conservatives, they also have to hate the Democrats, our Democrat-aligned elected leaders, and everything they have spoken for, regardless of how great it is.

I've never heard Democrat used as a slur, nor have I attempted to further this ridiculous "trick." In fact, I've heard many tried and true lefties who use Democrat as an adjective. Screw the fact that it's an insult from the 1800s, Republicans are usually the ones with the thin skin. But thank you for completely derailing my post. Did you even bother to try and pick up the context from it? I understand how it looks, with my having praised a Republican and used what is perceived as an epithet. BUT it's JOHN HUNTSMAN! The only one who didn't have his head up Norquist's ass, the only one of them who didn't just follow the right wing agenda.

This is a political discussion board. The usage of Democrat as an adjective is now a political issue. I didn't make it that way. It just is. I simply pointed out to you that it was incorrect.

Why don't you leave it at that and move on. I'd be interested in knowing more about what you think of Jon Huntsman. My view: he is too right wing for me. He is anti-choice and I would NEVER vote for an anti-choice candidate. And I hope he can get the part of his message that I DO like across to his party. But I will not support him.

I don't admire Huntsman for all of his policies, only for the fact that there are Republicans who don't fall in line gives me hope for the future of American politics.

The Republican "taskmasters" portrayed on The Simpsons may be closer to the truth than we could ever imagine, so for him to do his own thing is amazing. It's like Clinton said, "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line." And that's more apt today than ever, no matter how closely the Paulites try to paint a picture where Obama and Romney are identical. That couldn't be further from the truth, because this primary has been more about appeasing the super-far-right than any other before.

So, when used as a noun it's okay, but used as an adjective it's bad because some dumbass said it like 80 years ago? I've reread that article (had to take the m out of the link) like 4 times and I still don't get why it's offensive outside of the fact that the Repubs (and apparently Ralph Nader) are using a deliberate misnomer. It seems more like deliberate teasing akin to siblings bothering the crap out of each other.

Is it because they're trying to make it seem like it's not about a Democratic agenda, rather than the agenda of those within the party? Why are there some of us who can't rise above the chiding?
