Three things rarely or never seen. In one minute.
The c-c-c-catch.
The dumbest play ever called.
Fighting.
Wow.

(12,409 posts)And Pete Carol's explanation of "we had 3 WRs on the field" was hilariously countered by Belichek's explanation of "that is why we had 3 corner backs on the field. If they had 2 WRs we would put 2 corner backs. If the had 1 WR we would put 1 corner back. If they 0 WRs we would put 0 corner backs".. I found that pretty funny.... even though I dont like the patriots at all

(54,770 posts)Definitely the dumbest play ever, and his explanation was absolute BS.

(8,419 posts)If his point was to have a throw away play to kill time then why run a pick play across the middle.
You roll our Wilson with the option to run it in OR only throw the ball to a single covered receiver at the back corner of the end zone. Anything else should end up in the bar behind the end zone.
The play called, pick across the middle, could have been picked off like is was, with the db getting the jump. Or the db gets a hand on the ball and gets picked by the other DB in the area, or it deflects off the receivers hands with the potential to be picked off.
In no case, absolutely fucking none, do you put Lynch immediately into a pass pattern giving the defense an immediate clue that run up the middle is off.

(23,926 posts)could have walked into the end zone. (But they didn't, and I couldn't be happier!)

(33,224 posts)It's not like they have a good running back that can run 1/2 a yard or anything.

(36,745 posts)They came back from down by ten to up by four, making it anyone's game. The break went their way on a nice interception of a lousy pass play call by Carroll.

(7,318 posts)The c-c-catch.
#21 punching that catcher in the gut when he stood up and no ref calling it.
The dumbest play ever.
#21 (who should have been ejected earlier) intercepting on the dumbest play ever.
Fighting hockey style.

(7,318 posts)when the replay was shown....twice. You're forgiven.

(78,249 posts)The play was not dead. Butler shoved him out of bounds. Otherwise he could have gotten up and scored.
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)Except for the initial double replays right after the c-c-catch, none of the media has shown the replay again to the point where he gets up and is punched, so this has become moot. Everyone where I was who saw the replays commented angrily about it and fully expected the guy to be expelled.

(12,212 posts)You could even see it in Brady's expression after Seattle accomplished a touch-down instead of a field goal with 11 seconds left before half time.
I was disappointed Seattle lost (I like New England too, though), but I respect that last play call.

(8,554 posts)Jermaine Kearse batting that ball around reminded me of a cat playing with a mouse, that he managed to jump back up and get it on down the field was pretty remarkable.
After Marshawn Lynch got it to the one yard line, I really was envisioning Goodell handing him the MVP award. I'm more disappointed about not getting to see that than anything else and if we'd won, chances are Chris Matthews would have got the truck, anyway.
The scrapping in the end zone was disgusting to me. Our local news is oddly not doing much talking about that ridiculous display.
All in all, this game only resulted in one concussion, one broken wrist (or arm), and now Richard Sherman has to get Tommy John surgery for his torn elbow ligaments. I think such injuries are a real shame and why I will never enjoy watching much football.
