And maybe this will get it out of people's heads that somehow we magically owe all of that money to the Chinese, or that they can "call in their loans." They can't, because US Treasury bonds cannot be called in, except for the special ones issued to the Social Security Trust Fund, which can be called in at any time the SSTF needs cash. The rest of them can only be changed in at maturity, usually 30 years.
