I am aware that President Obama has said that he would definitely veto this, if Congress passed it and sent it to him. The reason that it is important -- in fact, just as important as contacting him on something he is undecided on, or if he favors something we oppose -- is because this allows him to speak to the public's opposition to this bill.

In fact, I do not agree with President Obama on a number of environmental issues. In each case, I contact the White House. But this particular case is extremely important. It involves the President standing up to some of the most powerful of the dark forces in the world. There is definite benefit to our being vocal in both our support of his stance, and opposition to the energy corporations.

Indeed, as several of you have no doubt figured out, there are some other, very closely related reasons why I posted this OP. I'll explain them in time. What I can say is that Michelle Obama, perhaps more so than anyone else in DC (including her spouse), is coming to have a greater grasp of environmental issues. And that is a good thing.
