They don't want to ever admit that they applied for and received government assistance with a black guy as president. And if they did do it was someone else's fault. Not theirs.
Noticed this the other day. Some guy at the restaurant where I eat occasionally was saying he had applied for unemployment. Said he didn't want to. Said he wasn't even going to apply but his wife made him do it.
In other words the only reason he was applying for assistance from, "big gubment", was because of his wife. He insinuated he didn't even need the money. Acted as though he was independently wealthy or something. He is not.
We just need to remember this is how a lot of Republicans think. Because this type of BS can be used against them if we know what is going on. That is why I mentioned this.

See what I am saying here?

(51,076 posts)I found out that people who I would never have guessed as being racist, racist sob's since we elected our first Black, very competent President. If Obama was a bumbling fool like w was then things might be different. The old white mans club can't have this man be perceived as a good President. They're scared to death that their time has passed and now its time for Minorities and our Ladies to ascend to the Oval Office.
I'm holding out for a Woman President next. She would be a perfect follow up to President Obama.
Without a lot of crooked politics and out right thievery I don't see the pukies having another person in the white house for years and years. They've truly shown their true allegiance and it is plain for all to see it is not to we the people.

(82,849 posts)In time to come, this guy will undoubtedly come to the correct conclusion that unemployment benefits were part of his due. When you work, some of your hourly effort goes toward financing unemployment benefits. It's not an entitlement, it's something you've paid for. Where the rubber hits the road is in the "Well, I deserved it" mentality when it collides with the "But other (unnamed, but we all know who we're talking about) people don't." Sometimes they can be helped to see that the same system that helped them through a thin spot works the same way for other people, too. And isn't it better to have people get some occasional help than to have to rely on other methods (like turning to crime) to get by?
