A Florida child showed up at school covered in bruises and wearing a T-shirt proclaiming that she was a bad student and deserved a good woopin.
I currently have all Fs in all of my classes. I am not aloud to have a boyfriend no time soon, the hand-written scribble on the shirt read. So back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night.
Teachers immediately noticed the badly beaten child and her shirt, and police were notified. The girls mother, Melany Joyce Alexander, 31, was arrested and charged with child abuse. The child, whose name and age hasnt been released by authorities, is in the custody of her stepfather.
The childs neck, arms and back were covered in marks and bruises. She beat the child with a belt, and the belt had some sort of metal on it, Hernando County Sheriffs Department spokeswoman Denise Moloney told the Washington Post. The injuries were severe enough that there was bruising the next day. Thats severe.

(41,930 posts)I'm not trying to exonerate anything. But if she didn't know sending a child to school bruised and essentially wearing a confession is likely to get her in serious trouble then she's too dumb to understand the evening news.

Couldn't help but notice that Authoritarian Mom can't spell "allowed"--so who is she to be so cruel and uncompromising?

(50,528 posts)Looks to me like a three-part punishment.
First, Evil Mother beat her child severely with a metal-studded belt.
Then she handed her kid a t-shirt and a Sharpie and ordered her to write this statement.
And finally, she forced her daughter to wear the shirt to school the next morning.

(15,805 posts)After a whole semester, did the incompetent birth-woman just recently sober up long enough to notice her kid was having problems in school? Looking at the written example of her own educational accomplishment, I doubt grades were the real reason she abused the girl.

Alexander is forbidden from having contact with the child.

(3,937 posts)capitalization as a sign of a mind with shifting and arbitrary rules.
The heavy underlines are authoritarian, scolding and visually mimic the whipping.
The word spacing and especially the stacking of line on line suggest trouble with boundaries. The words get bigger to fill the remaining space as the writer runs out of stuff to say -- this change of scale to fill up of space is desperation for control.
Misspelling "allowed" betrays the writer's education level.
And finally, writing in the voice of the child (rather than her own) denies personhood and a voice to the child.
