The Republicans are in full campaign mode...

Mitt Romney is in NY today with Rudy Giuliana to commemorate 9/11. The Republicans have used this date and the fear of another terrorist attack to monopolize the defense issue as theirs and theirs alone. That is, until Barack Obama was able to take out Osama Bin Laden. In effect, that stripped the warm American flag from around their shoulders.

As we know from history, Republicans tear down their opponents by degrees, over months at a time. They do not do it with a one day story. Democrats need to understand that this is what they are doing with the attacks on Barack Obama for "excessively celebrating" the end of Bin Laden. Just like they did with the Purple Heart of John Kerry, their long term goal is to destroy the actual accomplishments of this President.

Republicans are going full blast with their strategy, as with their ad about Obama being "cool" but not presidential, so Democrats have to be in the war room and ready to counter against the Republican attacks. However, they must guard against operating from a defensive standpoint. They must put the Republicans on the defensive whenever possible.

It is unfortunate but that is the nature of the political enemy we are facing. They do not wish to talk about issues - they prefer to talk about the personalities. They want to destroy the person, just like they did with John Kerry. That is who they are. We should be aware that the campaign is on.

4. President Obama and Joe Biden already have them on the defensive

And it's precisely because of Bin Laden. That's why they're squealing like banshees. And not only about Bin Laden. They've got the Republicans over a barrel with the 'war on women' too.

Haven't you noticed that the Republicans are mostly on the defensive? Romney is a fucking idiot and they know it. Even their precious Washington Post is writing highly critical articles about the Republicans. They created the teabag party monster and now they're paying the consequences.

This is actually the first time in decades that we've been ahead of them. The President is framing the talking points, not the Republicans. All Romney does is try to attack Obama after Obama nails him. Romney's campaign is on the defensive. They can't decide if he was against the Automotive bailout or created it himself. And their dear Ann Romney trying to claim Democrats were declaring war on stay at home moms didn't last past two or three days. Obama diffused it even as it was being born. It's a still born issue as a result, puttering around aimlessly in circles in the water.

Is it because it's the anniversary of Bin Laden's death?
