that the prez enjoys a 17 pt lead over Romney on who the American people trust more on matters of national security & foreign policy.

They understand that they are serving our country and not just the president. But when the president comes to visit them, they give him the respect he deserves. It was that way with W, it is that way with Obama, and it will be the way with next president and whoever follows them.

Godspeed. You do a job that I haven't and I thank you for it.

Not everybocy, but most. It helped that he advocated for a military pay raise. An apolitical navy enlisted woman (from a liberal family) once told me that:

'I can't hate on W. He's offered me a pay raise. I'm not going to say no to that.'
