Inhofe fires off on Obama over trip

Posted by
CNN's Ashley Killough

(CNN) - Longtime Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma criticized President Barack Obama over the president's surprise trip to Afghanistan Tuesday, describing the visit as "campaign related" and an "attempt to shore up his national security credentials."

"We've seen recently that President Obama has visited college campuses in an attempt to win back the support of that age group since he has lost it over the last three years," Inhofe said in a statement. "Similarly, this trip to Afghanistan is an attempt to shore up his national security credentials, because he has spent the past three years gutting our military."

A former member of the military and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Inhofe visited Afghanistan two weeks ago. In his statement Tuesday, he said the progress made in the country is "fragile" and accused the president of playing politics with the one-year anniversary of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

"The security improvements and the killing of Osama bin Laden a year ago are great American victories that should not be politicized," he said.

Aubrey McClendon had to step down as Chairman of Chesapeake Energy today. Well actually it is not so much that he is mad. He has just been given an assignment by Aubrey to get rid of Obama any way he can.

Bush makes an aircraft carrier return to port so he can land a on it and tell the country that the war is won and then 8 years later we are still fighting

they can not give a speech without invoking 9/11

I think republicans stick their heads up their ass, eat shit, then pull their head out, and then let the shit dribble out and think they are orators

terminally stupid and reactionary - a Teabaggers dream, but both ahead of, and behind his time.

Ahead of his time because he got there before the Teahadii were "cool" and behind, because it's over. Even the Teabaggers are tired of the clown show. Their going to hold their noses and vote "Obama" in 2012. The alternative is too horrible to imagine, even for those with little imagination.

caught the CNN intro to Obama's speech and it was all about how it helped him politically, how it was about the election. Blah, blah, blah Not a single "journalist" on CNN thought that the president meeting with the leader of the country we've been "helping" the last 10+ years was anything but pure politics. I mean what possible actual policy could Obama be doing there accept you know the things he talked about. The media is so use the the GOPs never ending campaign they just think everyone thinks like they do. Holy crap not everything the president does is a political show to get a few votes from an electorate so disinterested they won't make up their minds for 4 more months.

Of course when Bush made pure political theater nearly daily we were suppose to see his visit to the empty prop box factory as pure policy and not a pointless campaign related bs. But you know the rules are different for Obama and all other presidents...

As to gutting the military, it was the GOP that created the stupid as super committee and the forced budget cuts. His GOP lead house does make the budget after all. If he wants to spend a brazillion dollars on the military Inhofe could tax the crap out of rich people and corporations to pay for it.

And he ended the war in Iraq freeing up thousands of soldiers and equipment? The republicans debt ceiling shenanigans have done far more to "gut" the military than anything Obama has done.
