Is a realtime accurate test for marijuana intoxication...

... available?

If so then is it being suppressed?

I remember hearing about a saliva test a while back.

The current pee testing is NOT an intoxication test and plays well with the corporate enforcement business and very much harms the public good on many levels.

Unfortunately the pee test is the only way to determine intoxication, and that doesn't work very well either.

Colorado legislature is trying to come up with a useless law that won't pass either.

If MJ becomes legal here, I think they will look into enforcement options - but truth be told - it's very difficult to determine if you're currently stoned or have cannabinoid metabolites in body. It's fat soluble, so it can stay in your body for awhile if you're heavy (like I am)

It can only tell if you've used cannabis within the past few weeks. As a marijuana high lasts a couple hours at most, a piss test can't provide any information as to whether a person is high or not.

does exist. It works not specific to Cannabis but All causes of impairment. Lack of sleep, illness, exhaustion, hangovers, migraines, stress, emo-stress ie: birth, death, marriage, divorce etc-The bottom line is that we have allowed ourselves to be limited in our response to "impairment"
This notion that it matters What specific substance is ingested instead of looking at the individual circumstance is BS.
A person undergoing Chemo (function) tests out the same as a person with a BAC of .05.
Do we treat that person the same as a person who might consume something recreationally? Should we?
There is no magic test. Either a person functions safely/normally or they don't.
Again, if we are serious about safety we need to look at testing actual impairment.

UA/Blood/BAC test results for Drugs don't address any problem and they do not make us safer. Stop using all drug testing simply as an "ingestion trap" and start looking at whether or not a person is impaired.

There are people who can drink a 6-pack and Function just fine-then there are those who feel intoxicated just by being in the same room with an open bottle of beer. Ingestion fails the safety test-Impairment Testing measure "impairment". Big difference.

that driving is better handled by machine and the carnage will plummet.

In the meantime, we will continue to regulate and legislate in reaction to extremes.

Even though I no longer toke I'd bet if my blood was tested I'd still show that I was a toker
