asked Howard Fineman, who had just used the word 'hubris', if that was "a real word" and did George Stephanopoulis make it up and "what does it mean, smart alec?"
Anyone see this??

(54,256 posts)Hubris (play /ˈhjuːbrɪs/), also hybris, means extreme pride or arrogance. Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own competence or capabilities, especially when the person exhibiting it is in a position of power.
The adjective form of hubris is "hubristic".

(8,945 posts)I did not watch, so I have no idea what he said, but I DID hear him refer to the book with the same title repeatedly. He knows it's a word and he knows what it means. He may have his faults, but poor vocabulary is definitely not one.
