How you can easily take action against Pence and the RFRAs out there

Last edited Wed Apr 1, 2015, 10:27 PM - Edit history (1)

The HRC, as usual, has done a great job of gathering people and businesses together to take action against discrimination.

Today, major corporations signed on to launch a statement by businesses speaking out against an onslaught of anti-LGBT legislation being considered in states around the country. The statement, launched today by HRC calls on public officials to defeat or abandon efforts to enact these harmful pieces of legislation. Other corporations are expected to sign on to the growing list in the coming days, reflecting an ever increasing momentum to stop these bills.

The letter:

[div class="excerpt"“Corporate leaders are speaking out against bills that could allow individuals and businesses to discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and other minorities — several versions of which are actively being considered in states across the country.

This proposed legislation is bad for business.

Equality in the workplace is a business priority to foster talent and innovation, and these state laws undermine this core value.

These state laws set a dangerous precedent that stifles investment and economic growth by jeopardizing a state’s status as a welcoming place for employees to live and thrive, undermining the success of a business at large.

It is unreasonable for job creators to recruit a diverse workforce from states that encourage businesses to discriminate against our community of employees or consumers.

While these bills won’t alter our commitment to equality in the workplace, this legislation sends the wrong message about the states in which we operate and threatens our core corporate commitment to respect all individuals.

We the undersigned call for public officials to defeat or abandon efforts to enact this type of harmful legislation.”

This is unprecedented. I have to admit, for the very first time in my life I feel like I am welcomed by the world. I know there is still a long way to go. I know that there are still people out there who hate us, the LGBT community. Even in California there is that minority that wants a law to kill us. But this backlash to discrimination by Indiana and possibly Arkansas, has warmed my heart. ]

It's not doing too well here. Hopefully, Facebook will take to it. Just want action done.

Just under 200 hits and 30 "likes." Both NoJusticeNoPeace and I have made a handful of posts in the last couple of days inviting people over, and I've added a link in my sig line. Feel free to share it wherever you feel is appropriate.

Seriously, the easiest way to grow a page is to have big pages share yours. Take your favorite post and post it to a big page, or ask them to share it. Most will help out

I grew a page to over 8k likes. Being seen is the only way.

Also, if you pay for even a day, no more than $15, you will grow a little.

Be sure to post fairly often. Facebook doesn't show all posts in feeds. You have to tell your likes to be sure to click the "see in feed" or whatever that is.

I'm sure you will wonderfully!

I meant that you were free to share it in other forums, discussion boards, or social media, wherever you may hang out.

I've been posting several times a day, and NJNP has done a good handful too. I may try George Takei's page as a start - he's been very vocal about this.

Facebook doesn't make it easy. I learned the hard way. And then they would change the rules. .

I do wish people here wanted to take action. It's not a petition. And so easy to do.

Oh well. If you have any questions I can help with. Let me know
