But that our partners in the thing flog and kill fellow humans because of the way they were born... I'm close to the breaking point. I feel very, very sad tonight.
It's been decades since I didn't vote for the Democrat in a general election. But I'm not sure if I can pull a lever for anyone complicit in this filth.
Enough.

(1,713 posts)Yep, the TPP is yet another Hillary Clinton "accomplishment" as Secretary of State.
Ain't no way in hell to disassociate her from her own handiwork.

(45,251 posts)Until 2008, I was voting without ever having heard of the DLC, Third Way, New Democrats, etc. Among those who know better than I did then, there is LOTE voting; and I don't know how many are willing to risk giving that up.
No matter how I vote in Boston, the Democratic candidate will win the electoral votes of Massachusetts, barring something huge--and I now follow polls well enough to know if that is a remote possibility.
My friends in the reddest counties in the US have the same luxury as I do, though not as much comfort.
Leftists in the 8 to 100 purples counties that will determine the next Presidential election have a much harder decision to make.

(1,713 posts)In a "democracy" 90% of the votes don't matter unless they are in one of the key battleground states.

(45,251 posts)Boston is the bluest part of Massachusetts and Massachusetts is supposedly the bluest state.
Then again, in other systems that are not so tied to only two parties, the candidate who gets a minority of the votes can end up winning. So, I am not 100% sure which is worse.

Don't know what my age has to do with anything, either. I am surprised you assume I haven't thought about a historic race for the Senate in my own state.
For very good reasons, I strongly favored Capuano in the primary with Khazei being a distant second, but it seemed as though Coakley was the party favorite for some bizarre reason. "Funny" that, since she was the one of the four Dem primary candidates I thought least likely to win the general.

(135,425 posts)MA isn't perfect--they're sexist. It takes a LOT of money to overcome that bias.
Elizabeth Warren is the FIRST female senator -- ever -- from MA.
We've never had a female governor ""in her own right." We had one that fleeted up when her boss left for an ambassadorship.

(27,787 posts)Manny, the truth teller ... is not "sure if I can pull a lever for anyone complicit in this filth."
Say what you want to say.
If you don't want to be "complicit in this filth" don't claim to not be "sure". Don't compromise yourself. Why are you allowing yourself to become "complicit"?
