Good news for all you coffee addicts out there - it's now really, really good for you!

http://www.afp.com/en/news/packed-health-benefits-coffee-gains-ground-experts

Packed with health benefits, coffee gains ground with experts

Long viewed as a controversial dark substance, coffee is gaining ground among medical experts who say it can protect against heart disease, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and diabetes, even if it is decaffeinated.

But this year's recommendations said for the first time that coffee is not generally harmful, even multiple cups per day.

"We have found no negative, adverse effects on health when you drink up to three to five cups a day," she told AFP.

"In fact, there is a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease and a couple of cancers," including breast and prostate cancer, she said.

Seriously? I drink a minimum of 12 cups a day almost every day, and sometimes 24 cups.

3-5 cups a day is like a single large coffee drink at most places.

Time to start telling us the negative effects of drinking a pot or two a day.

Sometimes more. But then, I owned a business and frequently had to work until 3 or 4 am to meet deadlines. Now I make half a pot, and usually wind up just reheating a cup of leftovers the next morning. But I turn 56 this Sunday, and I don't have any illnesses, am not on any medications. So yeah...it must have been all that coffee in my younger years!
