Hey gays, be thankful you're not being executed en masse -- little Tommy Cotton

Appearing yesterday on CNN, Senator Tom Cotton (R) urged critics of Indiana’s “religious freedom” law to get “perspective,” suggesting the treatment of LGBT people in Indiana compared favorably to countries where gay people are executed.

“I think it’s important we have a sense of perspective,” Cotton said. “In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.”

And we've had some bad ones. Like Ambrose Hundley Sevier:

"Sevier chaired two major committees, Indian Affairs and Foreign Relations. His views reflected those of many on the frontier; he backed Jackson’s Indian removal policy and labored unsuccessfully to give free land away in the West to American homesteaders. Manifest Destiny had the Arkansas senator’s approval as he supported demands to take all of Oregon from the British in the mid-1840s. Sevier’s views on expansion were quite congruent with those of newly elected President James K. Polk. As Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee (1845–1848), he ...vigorously supported the conflict with Mexico."

However, I really would like to see her step in it big time in a way that would offend the state enough that she becomes a one term wonder.

I would rather Grassley be voted out. Ugh. He's become a legend n his own mind and will never retire.
