I don't know what President Boehner is talking about, but this one is definitely NOT an anti-war President. Or if he is, then he's not the one calling the shots. Remember when we were supposed to have the troops out of Afghanistan by 2011? Threats of war against Iran right before the 2012 election? The attempt to start a full-scale war against Syria? And now putting US troops in Ukraine?

I'm against the next war, too, wherever it might be. A real anti-war President wouldn't even threaten war absent a core vital interest, which is not present in any of the places we've been rattling sabers.

were there not a threat of war, do you think Syria would have let go of their chemical weapons? Had Romney or McCain been in office we would have had troops there.

But at the same time I was NOT in the least surprised. It was like - "HAH, you finally copped to it. Confirmed every last one of my suspicions. They seldom tip their hand that baldly. But he did. Just gave away the store. Tipped his hand and all the NeoCONS' hands in four words. And a smirk for good measure.

I was actually surprised that it didn't elicit more of a reaction. I was freakin' STUNNED. OUTRAGED. All my worst fears and suspicions about this asshole and his kind were all TOTALLY validated. It was like locating the Holy Grail. It just proved EVERYTHING we said about how fucking mercenary that side of the aisle is. That they'd willingly send YOUR kids over to those hell holes in the Middle East to get their legs blown off, and all the armchair chickenhawks back home here were all safe and cozy and comfortable, while busily collecting and cashing checks.

And it barely moved the meter in the news. It just left me dumbfounded!

And that's just one thing of many--Libya, Syria, Yemen, etc. This president has not gone after the MIC in any substantial way. He has continued to support them, in fact, and in doing so, he shows that he does not want peace, no matter what he may say.

From socialistworker:
http://socialistworker.org/2014/12/04/americas-longest-war-gets-longer
http://socialistworker.org/2014/11/25/still-a-war-for-oil-and-empire

Etc., etc., etc.--there are many, many more examples. Their actions belie their words.

This is one thing I'm more than happy to give him and Kerry credit for--they worked their butts off for this, and I'm very thankful they were able to do it. This is one of the things I think his administration will be remembered for, and they should be.

Thanks for your patience, Cha, I know we don't always agree, but it's good to celebrate together (and with the Iranians!) when things like this come along.

Cheers
