(36,063 posts)War maybe, but it'd be hard for Israel to project more than air-power and nukes...and the later path would leave Israel isolated from about every nation on earth with the possible exception of Saudi Arabia.

Civil war here may be necessary to stop them.

(36,063 posts)The teaparty can't hold off popular anger over discrimination against LGBT.
Popular anger over a nuclear first strike by Israel would produce world anger against Israel that would be at least as strong as world anger at Al-Qeda following 9-11 and that anger wouldn't go against outlaws in unknown hiding places. It would be brought down on a specific nation.

(19,326 posts)I hope not, but it certainly wouldn't be "out of character" for Bibi and Boner to do such a thing.

Who HAS nuclear weapons and who does not, Bibi?

(86,536 posts)isn't worth protecting anymore. Maybe he should consider that. Maybe we US citizens are tired of protecting a juvenile delinquent bully and are ready to offer some "tough love" by not finishing up or cleaning up after messes they make.

(86,536 posts)I agree, they have been protected by us through lies that they needed to be secure from harm when they do all the evil shit they do while making us pay for it and doing the dirty work. The world will not end if a trouble-maker "country" fails... and I can see a prime candidate for juts such a comeuppance from my laptop right here.

Israel strikes Iran and Russia gets drawn in ... which draws in the USA.
2naSalit
(86,536 posts)to think that Bibi will go ballistic soon. Because the price paid by Bibi and his people will be insignificant compared to what the rest of the world will suffer.

(637 posts)Do you think this will cause Israel to attack Iran?
Fred Sanders
(23,946 posts)Why dismantle by force what is being dismantled by consent??
Bibi is cornered.
It makes no sense in any way whatsoever to now attack, for so many reasons. And
Israel would be totally isolated in the world...totally.
Plus Bibi has not yet formed a government, has he?

(764 posts)That's why the White house and him are playing good cop/bad cop with Iran. Bi Bi helped Iran decide to go in the direction of non violence. Israel has some pretty smart and a pretty Left population. The future is economic peace in the middle east, ie trade free of sanctions and OPEC. Israel and the Arabians will set boundries that give them a separate state. The corporate world is coming around, we know the best place for our companies to thrive is on a peaceful world with ALL of us on pretty much the same page. We no longer need an enemy for our economy to thrive.

(80 posts)Yeah, I would think the well-off Israelis (long-time Israelis) knows what is needed for Israel.
Bibi won't be able to form a coalition at all. If Bibi wants to go at war with Iran, I don't think Lapid or Kahlon will continue to be associated with a warmonger.
2banon
(7,321 posts)largely Leftist. I don't think the Likkud party could hold rule over the country for so many years if that were the case. unless of course, their election system is rigged like ours are. which is possible, but from the bits of news over the years, my impression is that the Left in Israel has largely diminished significantly especially in recent years.
Backwoodsrider
(764 posts)and I don't think they are going to allow Bi Bi to form a party like he wants, maybe nothing at all. They might try for a change

They don't believe in negotiations, with either the Palestinians or the Iranians.

(41,205 posts)The Israeli Right, American Right and no doubt Iranian Right will be the main people pissed off with the deal. Apart from everything else, if it works it may deprive them of one of their main rallying points to rouse their base against the bad guys on the other side!
Netanyahu got 23% of the vote in Israel, and acts like he's the king. Their electoral system is even worse than the British one.
