Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra/A Bridge Too Far

So I put down two links-The first refers to a Star Trek episode in which the crew encounters a race that speaks only in simile-Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra describes a situation where unlikely allies should join to face a common foe.
The second link refers to a WW2 attempt to gain a worthwhile goal that faced too heavy an opposition.
My job is to make both relevent...
What you have to get is that for the last few years everything that the republicans/ALEC have attempted are done in simile. I don't know how to say this better-they do not discuss fact-which can be disputed-they tell a story which sounds logical.Even when the facts do not support their attempts to support new laws at the state level their story sounds logical and their tale gains support.
So they chased after voter fraud and told lies that rang true and passed needless voter ID laws that disenfranchised minority voters.
Those laws passed. Right now they are chasing "religious protection" laws that in fact are about discriminating against gays. This time we are looking at "A Bridge Too Far"-It is a place they want to go but is too ambitious-so now they squirm and back off.
We lost the former and are winning the latter-and winning the latter is good. But the former stands as they rip apart 50 years of voter rights acts.
That the first lost and the second is being corrected means just this-we democrats are the fulcrum of the Right, and that we are the Right means being on the correct side of the moral bend of the universe. We must stand and fight. I believe our next and immediate fight is to support the President and an accord with Iran. Let us support every move towards universal rights and let us oppose every that takes us away from peace.
And let us understand that the republican party tells fairy tales and tries to take us to places we should not go.
