For all you PRO Death Penalty "Progressives"......

Alabama inmate free after 30 years on death row.

Anthony Ray Hinton was one of Alabama’s longest-serving death row inmates, having spent more than half his life incarcerated. Now, after three decades of insisting that he is innocent in the 1985 murders of two men, the 58-year-old Hinton is finally a free man.

“The sun does shine,” Hinton said just after his release from jail on Friday, according to AL.com.

His freedom came down to the same four bullets that put him in jail to begin with.

“I shouldn’t have (sat) on death row for 30 years,” he told reporters according to CNN. “All they had to do was to test the gun.”

He added: “Everybody that played a part in sending me to death row, you will answer to God.”

and I will always be against the DP. It's barbaric.

I was 16 when it happened and all I wanted was for the perp to spend the rest of his life locked up so he couldn't do it again. He was suspected of 3 other, similar murders in town.

I got my wish. He eventually died in prison.

One spent two years in prison. The gunman was released after 4 years.

I never felt Lucille received the justice due her. To say little of the twisted conceptions it cast into my life.

The death penalty is barbaric. But then, doing next to nothing isn't some great improvement.

that it is obvious that innocent people are on death row and despite "safeguards", innocent people are going to die.

So, if you believe in the death penalty, how many innocent people are you willing to see die? Round numbers please.

But I understand that this man needs to find some way to get to grips with having his life stolen from him.

to force them to confront the fact that their stance directly results in the murder of innocent people.

More then 7000 people die each year behind bars. (Old numbers from 06, haven't found newer ones)

Ask yourselves - How many innocents have been condemned to die behind bars?

How many innocents die behind bars, having been condemned to spend all of their life behind them?

Pro-life, Pro-DP - It doesn't really matter what stance you take, each side is guilty of supporting actions that will undoubted harm innocents.

Instead of fighting amongst ourselves, how about we work towards ensuring innocents are not falsely convicted?
