Two cousins are charged with theft by deception involving a $150,000 donation from a Susie Buffett-funded foundation that was meant for youth activities.

But relatives and a community group have rallied to their side, saying that the cousins are wrongly accused because of a miscommunication and that the two are still committed to helping others — even continuing to coordinate events while they have been held in jail.

Latron Louis, 30, and Quincey Louis, 39, allegedly withdrew and misused $150,000, a gift from the Sherwood Foundation in December meant to last through 2015 for community outreach projects, said Deputy Douglas County Attorney Katie Benson.

The Sherwood Foundation, founded by Buffett, provides grants to nonprofit organizations that help the Omaha community through education or anti-poverty initiatives.
