LINCOLN — The departure of a doctor working for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has left Lincoln temporarily without abortion services and reduced their availability in Omaha.

Angie Remington, a Planned Parenthood spokeswoman, said a new doctor will be starting as soon as she can renew her Nebraska credentials.

She said the agency expects to resume a regular schedule of abortion services within the next several weeks.

The interruption resulted from the unanticipated departure of a longtime Planned Parenthood physician near the end of March, Remington said. She declined to say why the doctor left, citing the confidentiality of personnel records.
