Oakland boy, 14, charged with murdering friend, 15

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder for fatally shooting a 15-year-old friend at an East Oakland park, a prosecutor said Friday.

The defendant, whose name was withheld because he is being charged as a juvenile, is accused of gunning down Shonte Daniels at Arroyo Viejo Park on April 21.

The boys, both from Oakland, had been arguing shortly before the 14-year-old opened fire, said Matt Golde, an Alameda County assistant district attorney.
