American persons speak on Citizen based taxation

which the USA is the only country in the world (except for Eritrea) uses. The rest of the world uses Resident Based taxation.

watch Marilyn who has filed her USA income taxes every year even though she is a Canadian citizen and has been in Canada for 43 years.

There are other videos as well . They are Americans under different circumstances.

Please watch with an open mind.

https://vimeo.com/citizenshiptaxation

The United States is the only advanced country in the world that claims the right to levy taxes on people based SOLELY on place of birth in the U.S. Those born in the U.S are U.S. citizens no matter where they live in the world. U.S. "citizenship taxation" has its origins in the U.S. Civil War period. It has remained the law since that time. It was not enforced until 2009.
In 2009 the U.S. began to enforce the old and antiquated law of "citizenship taxation". In addition, the IRS began to aggressively enforce the 1970 FBAR ("Foreign Bank Account Report&quot rules. U.S. citizens abroad were pressured to enter the "Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Programs"which mandated the payment of massive penalties to the IRS. Understand that these were penalties for the violation of laws that most Americans abroad neither know about nor had any reason to know about.
With the advent of FATCA, the United States, "tightened the screws" and is NOT is hunting the world for people who have a "U.S. place of birth". Those interested in this topic may also be interested in: FBAR, PFIC, CFC (Controlled Foreign Corporations), and the U.S. "Exit Tax" which those renouncing U.S. citizenship may be subject to. (Google any one of these terms.)
These videos are in part to show the pain, anguish and turmoil that the Obama administration has inflicted on those with a U.S. birthplace. The observations of a "non-U.S. citizen" who attended a meeting of U.S. citizens in Canada focusing on this topic are here:

You are truly an American like John Oliver talks about on his latest show The news Last Week when he discussed Surveillance

I am an old lady and wrote the wrong guy down. My memory fails me at time. John Oliver is a hero to me.

If you are a taxpayer living abroad you must file if:

• You are filing a return other than a joint return and the total value of your specified foreign assets is more than $200,000 on the last day of the tax year or more than $300,000 at any time during the year; or

• You are filing a joint return and the value of your specified foreign asset is more than $400,000 on the last day of the tax year or more than $600,000 at any time during the year.

Fortunately, you do have support of one of the two major political parties in the United States.

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee hereby presents this Resolution to each Member of Congress and urges the U.S. Congress to repeal FATCA

And secondly as a major tool in tracking money laundering for Al Qaeda.

You and I have sparred on this subject many times. Which is why I started by supplying some facts, direct from the sources, in my first post before you turned this into a mudslinging insult fest. And every time you have refused to acknowledge the facts. More than that, in the past you have flat out denied the facts.

You are like a Fox News Channel watcher who refuses facts that do not support what you want to be true.

did you watch these 7 videos?

Are these homelanders who live in the USA hiding money outside of the USA?

Yu did not address the issue of citizen based taxation.. Why is the USA the only country in the world who does this citizen based taxation yet lets corporations keep their overseas profits untouched by the IRS.

I know the facts. I do not think you do.

I never watch FOX. I really love Obama and think he is doing a great job for all the world to be affected.. He is fighting very narrow minded people who are owned by the IMC and the Koch Brothers.

The facts are the facts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_taxation
Almost all countries tax foreign income only of residents, if at all. Only two countries tax the worldwide income of nonresidents who are citizens of the country:[105][106]

Eritrea taxes its nonresident citizens on their foreign income at a reduced flat rate of 2% (income tax rates for residents are progressive from 2 to 30%).[101] It has been reported that Eritrea enforces this tax on its citizens abroad through denial of passports, denial of entry or exit from the country, confiscation of assets in Eritrea, and even harassment of relatives living in Eritrea, until the tax is paid.[107] In 2011, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution condemning the collection by illegal means of the Eritrean 'diaspora tax',[108] and in 2013, the Canadian government expelled the Eritrean consul for collecting the tax.[109] The Parliament of Sweden has also expressed its intention to prohibit the practice there.[110]

The United States taxes its citizens and resident foreigners on their worldwide income, and nonresident foreigners on their local income. US citizens residing in other countries may exclude some of their foreign income from US taxation, and take credit for income tax paid to other countries, but they must file a US tax return to claim the exclusion or credit even if they result in no tax liability.[111][112] "US persons" abroad, like US residents, are also subject to various reporting requirements regarding foreign finances, such as FBAR, FATCA, and IRS forms 3520, 5471, 8621 and 8938. The penalties for failure to file these forms on time are often much higher than the penalties for not paying the tax itself.[113][114][115][116]

and you live in the USA do you report your USA bank accounts every year?

Americans abroad under penalty must report every bank account they have in the countries they live, which in most cases are the only bank accounts they have and they are citizens of the country they live in.

You are trying to insult me calling me a Fox News Channel watcher.

I cheered when the Sun Network in Canada went off the air.. They were FOX north.

Like I said read and watch the videos. for an understanding of what a lot of people who are/were Americans are going through. I know from what you write. You did NOT watch the videos

The data on American political apathy is rather consistent, and stunning. Begin with the fact that even in presidential election years, 40 to 50 percent of the voting-age public simply chooses not to participate in the voting process at all, while two-thirds chooses not to vote in midterm elections.

Even more striking is what they do and do not know. An Annenberg Public Policy Center poll from last September found that only 36 percent of Americans can name the three branches of government, and only 38 percent know the GOP controls the House. The Center's 2011 poll "found just 15 percent of Americans could correctly identify the chief justice of the United States, John Roberts, while 27 percent knew Randy Jackson was a judge on American Idol."

A 2010 Findlaw.com poll found that almost two-thirds of Americans -- 65 percent -- were incapable of naming even a single member of the U.S. Supreme Court. A 2010 Pew poll discovered that 41 percent of Americans are unable to name the current vice president of the U.S; in other words, Oliver could just as easily (if not more easily) compile a video of Times Square visitors looking stumped when asked if they knew who Joe Biden, or Antonin Scalia, is.
