I've only seen what was shown on Chris Hayes.
When the object is dropped by the shooter next to the body, it seems there is another cop standing right there as he drops it.
On Hayes' show, the area of the object being dropped is enhanced, and the remainder of the shot is blurred out.
It looks like there is anothe cop standing right there.
Where is the other cop now, and why is that cop not being charged? The object - presumably the taser - is dropped right in front of that other cop.

(130,757 posts)Not clear to me role of 2d cop, but not the shooting cop. MAY have checked victim's status.
Not sure where 2d cop was when taser dropped.

(130,757 posts)Not clear to me where 2d cop was when taser was first dropped, that is, before or close to when the shots were fired.

(62,444 posts)Look again at that picture. There are two cops in it.
That frame is at the moment the taser is dropped.

(62,444 posts)So that's where the 2nd cop was when the taser was dropped.

(130,757 posts)at the body of the deceased victim. Again, nothing here about where 2d cop was when taser was FIRST dropped, well before victim was shot at. 1st cop returned to that spot to retrieve the taser after he'd killed the victim, and to bring it close to victim's body, and then planted it there, with 2d cop watching. IMO.

(62,444 posts)No, the second cop was not there when the taser went to the ground the first time.
The second cop was there when the taser was dropped the second time, and also there when the taser was picked up and re-holstered.

(130,757 posts)more like 'not clear' where 2d cop was at first 'drop.' I watched full video when it first appeared.
as I said at my first post, #2:
'Not clear to me role of 2d cop, but not the shooting cop. MAY have checked victim's status.
Not sure where 2d cop was when taser dropped.'

(62,444 posts)But the second cop appears from around a fence from another direction after the shooting, and heads to the victim when the first cop is fetching the taser.

I wondered about it also, but I wasn't clear on that. It did seem to me as if the shooter made a show of picking up the taser from near the victim in front of the other cop.
I could be mistaken on this, it was just my impression and I could only stomach the video for two viewings. The first one I was so in shock I missed a lot. The second one was the one at the NYT where they point out the drop.
Late edit due to fat thumbs: Changed "and" in the title to the correct "at".

(62,444 posts)How many cops do you count in this picture:

(32,785 posts)He didn't say if the second cop was there during the shooting. Just that the second officer apparently didn't see anything.

So this isn't a racist thing, see?"
Yes, the arguments are in fact going to get this fucking stupid. When people have nothing, this is the sort of dumb shit they come up with.

(62,444 posts)But the way the frame was blurred, it was tough to make out anything.
Having seen the full video, yes, another cop arrives after the shooting.
I don't appreciate your insinuation. From the way it was edited on his show it looked as if the cop just appeared there out of nowhere.

(10,044 posts)because he was helping the first cop....it looked like, anyway.

(13,877 posts)he dropped the taser before "backup" came. But it's all there for the world to see, literally. And we lecture other countries on Human Rights. Not.

(62,444 posts)Watch the rest of the video sometime.
The cop picks it back up and holsters it.
In the full video, the person with the camera is initially walking along the sidewalk and the camera is not pointed at the confrontation. During that period, you can hear a rapid clicking and pop sound - very much like a taser being fired.
The camera then points at the confrontation. It is not clear how or why the taser falls to the ground behind the cop.
Then the man runs, is shot, the cop does his "behind your back" thing and cuffs him, and then goes back to fetch the taser. When he comes back to the body, another cop has arrived and is standing there during the drop.
Don't stop watching there.
The other cop has gloves on and is looking over the body. THEN, the first cop picks up the taser and holsters it.
So, if you have in fact watched the whole video, can you explain exactly what it is you imagine the second cop to have done?
libdem4life
(13,877 posts)no less. Seems there was 3-4 minutes...plenty of time to plant before the other cop got there. But like someone else on here, can't stand to watch it again for more details.

(93 posts)The other cop is right there and watched him drop the tazer or what ever is seen being planted
jberryhill
(62,444 posts)First, the taser was fired. You can hear the clicking of the taser as the person with the camera approaches the park. Additionally, when the victim runs away, you'll notice that something on the ground is following him because it is being pulled along by a wire. If you watch the dirt path, and then the grass, behind him running, you'll see something bobbing along.
Secondly, the video is typically edited for time on newscasts, and doesn't show the arrival of the second cop from the other direction, which the full video clearly shows.
Third - and this is what practically nobody bothers to watch in the full video - the first cop picks the taser up again.
I don't know a whole lot about tasers. The thingamabobs that come out of them are attached to wires. After you shoot a taser, do you have to re-pack the wire, or do you just break it off?
johnnysad
(93 posts)other than what I've seen in videos .
I don't think the wires are suppose to break off .
I would think the probes would pull out of your skin before the wires broke

(111,169 posts)after the shooter cuffed Scott and while he was retrieving the taser to drop next to the body. The black cop actually checked Scott's condition, something the shooter didn't bother to do.
It's a damning video all the way around.
The shooter still gets a trial. There could be exculpatory evidence but it's not looking good.

(62,444 posts)I wish the audio was better, because it would be interesting to know what they talked about, and before the first cop then picked up the taser and holstered it.
