(34,166 posts)I was interested in her experience with the fall out and I think her talk was presented well and potentially impactful.
TED has always had a wide variety of topics and speakers including those who simply talked about their experiences.

(26,582 posts)I thought it was a fantastic speech on cyber bullying and the culture of shame.

(12,296 posts)I can see how it could be misconstrued as promoting the use of psychotropics (LSD, Ayahuasca etc) ...

(29,503 posts)the right-leaning political sympathies of those in charge of TED.
I like the on-demand nature of TED talks, however, and I like that you can pick and choose the topics that interest you.

(154,021 posts)the irony of mostly who posted it here.
Let's just say it was not a nice mirror, and it should have been.
That said, I could have given that talk, from my experiences on the intertubes, including here. Sadly, I think too many women could, and why that talk is a most watch at your local High School, but also a good watch overall.
As to the others, TED talk does censor things from time to time when they get a tad on the controversial side. It is not the first time, alas not the last time either.

(154,021 posts)but one of my local labor advocates recently did. She is far more qualified to give one. And I will even share it...

I know you might not get this, but I have no interest in giving one. But as far as cyber bullying... Monica is not the only woman who has been harassed online or offline in her case. This is a very common experience for women online. To be harassed online and be a woman is almost expected
Here are some articles on this cyberbullying I am talking about

I expect the treatment again. It is what it is.
Have an excellent day.
Oh and one more edit... your reaction to what I said about bullies is textbook as well. Yes, I could give that talk, I have a rich well to draw from regarding the treatment, quite a bit from here. Then there is the Cave and a few other places that are obsessed with me on the right, hi guys, obsession is part of it, Rec Games Mecha, and since I do not talk to perfect strangers on facebook, I do not include FB on that list, or at least not yet. Some of it has fit the LEGAL definition of cyber stalking. Again, have an excellent day.
