(17,111 posts)The fish are flat and grey/black. One is kind of tan.
I'm talking about that pile of gray "curly" hair or whatever it is.

(86,536 posts)feathers from a pigeon who are often that sort of color. It's amazing how big a pile of feathers from even a rather small bird looks once they are plucked off.
Much of that downy fluff will be incorporated into the nest as heat retention material.
I like to watch the Decorah, IA nest, it's live most of the time. They had a good sized rabbit for lunch an dinner yesterday. and a yellow-shafted flicker and some trout. they eat a lot of squirrels too.
