INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Republicans presidential hopefuls addressed the NRA convention in Nashville Friday.
One Republican who was not there is Governor Mike Pence. He cancelled at the last minute.
It adds to the growing evidence that his political prospects have changed.
The governors office says Pence didnt go to Nashville because he was attending the funeral of a friend here in Indiana. Even so, there is a list of insiders who will tell you that hes no longer considered a Presidential hopeful.

(23,156 posts)should be thinking about running for President, or thinking about who is running for President, this far out from the election.
Imagine, if you will, that Pence had been the perceived Republican nominee by a strong, loyal, and vocal minority of that party. And now this.
If we, as Democrats, more or less decide that some particular candidate is the only possible one, and all other contenders decide there's no point in running, and then that potential candidate somehow self-destructs, well I'm sure you can follow my thinking here. I've been saying all along that none of us should become totally committed to any one candidate, that trying to convince everyone else that there is only one possible choice, means we cannot, as a party, respond appropriately to changing circumstances.
Not that I care a whole lot about any of the possible Republican nominees, certainly not this far out. I will care somewhat more as the election gets closer, once they've decided on their nominee. Meanwhile, I want us to keep our options open. Support of a candidate is fine. Just don't think there is only one possible person to nominate. Especially not some 19 months before the election, and a good year before we should have collectively decided on the nominee.

(27,137 posts)...that we now live in BIZARRO WORLD. Where logic and reality merge with political comedy and absurdity. The fact that this guy would be considered for president of even a fungus colony on an Indiana farm pond is hilarious enough.
- But the reality that I'm even discussing it now makes me have to question my own sanity.....
