Yes, she was right. I still think JFK had greatness in him; what he did not have was time. Hekate Apr 2015 #4
Exactly. The funny thing is that I think he knew he wouldn't. ucrdem Apr 2015 #7

In this policy at least, Obama really has turned out to be a president like her father, who in 1959 called Fidel "part of the legacy of Bolívar" and blamed the Cuban revolution on US support for Batista:

A President Like My Father
By CAROLINE KENNEDY
Published: January 27, 2008

I want a president who understands that his responsibility is to articulate a vision and encourage others to achieve it; who holds himself, and those around him, to the highest ethical standards; who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved.

Here's how he put it in his inaugural address:

"All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin."

I think Obama also understands this, and it's been part of his approach from the get-go, which explains some of the compromises he's been willing to consider for example in the ACA legislation. The miracle is that he's had more time than JFK.

interviewing a Republican about Obama's work with Cuba. It was obviously generic GOP talking points he was spewing (paid for in full, I'm sure).
It's hilarious how disturbed the President is making these GOP freaks—by actually DOING SOMETHING.
