Linden, NJ leaving a strip club.
That story sunk like a stone.
Any other human would have been charged with vehicular homicide and tested for alcohol and other substances at the scene.
But cops are extra-special snowflakes.
Extra-special sometimes raging murderous snowflakes.

(43,853 posts)had a history of driving while intoxicated. He was involved in two or three incidents prior to the fatal crash. If you Google, there are articles on nj.com about it.Sorry I can't provide better information, I'm posting from my phone and linking is beyond my skill set.

(43,853 posts)The investigation is still going on. I have absolutely no doubt that he'd have been charged already if he were a civilian.

(82,383 posts)what is it with the martyrdom around here? I only said what I surmised.
In 2013, he was again charged with a DUI in Rahway. Dashcam video shows Abad barely able to speak or walk after smashing his BMW into a parked car. He asks police to call a friend in the police academy, Aiello reported.
That October, Abad pleaded guilty and his license was suspended for six months. An alcohol interlock device was installed on his personal car until September 2014.
So he wasn't fired. Though at least he was charged with DUI and pled guilty, which you would think would not have happened given the idea around here that the cops never prosecute another cop for any crime.
One of the victims was a cop, too, so at least that's a comfort to the contingent here who believes all cops are out there waiting for the chance to murder somebody.

(82,383 posts)You assume it was a deliberate murder only because it was a cop?
In New Jersey, the charge of vehicular homicide involves the death of someone that was caused by another persons reckless operation of a motor vehicle or vessel. Reckless conduct in New Jersey is defined as acting with a conscious disregard of a known and justifiable risk to the value of human life, such as driving under the influence.
However, after reading an article stating that a "NY police department spokesman" was unsure whether a warrant was approved or executed to test the driver's blood alcohol, one wonders if this guy will actually be held accountable. I mean it's not like the guy had a history of drunk driving or anything...

(82,383 posts)So why would he not be charged again? And they are still not sure that he was UI in this one (though it's a pretty good guess he was). Nothing to indicate they will let him walk for being a cop. In fact one of the victims was a fellow cop. A second in the car with him was a cop too.

(14,274 posts)Do you think if this was your average citizen that we would see a statement that the police were unsure whether the driver of a vehicle in an accident involving deaths was blood tested or not? Do you really think that would happen?
I mean this guy has already had one drunk driving incident dismissed because evidence was not properly attained. I tend to believe that shit like that happens on purpose.
At least you admit that the guy was probably drunk. I'm not sure why it bothers you that people are so upset about this. There are obviously two separate set of rules and laws for the "peace keepers" and your average citizen.

(82,383 posts)What is for me to admit? It is to be proven in court. You can't just decree it must be so. Because the guy's a cop he must be guilty.
It does not bother me people are upset about this. It is over the top that people assume the defendant will walk because he is a cop. It's already shown they will charge him.
And regular people are not always convicted when charged. There are cases where the evidence is called into question and cause acquittal. There are lawyers who specialize in it.
JTFrog
(14,274 posts)It's already happened once. Maybe that's why I assume it's a very real possibility it could happen again.

(82,383 posts)it's not that a conviction is required for every single charge. If that were the case, who'd need a trial?
And people have gotten away with it by leavening the scene, preferring to face that charge. Then the evil cops get deprived of their chance to test for alcohol consumption.

(14,274 posts)I've seen that. I get that. For whatever your reasons. Good for you.
I'm not sure if you've noticed, but that thin blue line shit isn't really popular here. And quite frankly I am disgusted by it.
This guy has benefited from that thin blue line and now people are dead. So fuck that noise.

(18,497 posts)If he were not a cop he would be in jail.
Everyone knows this.
Why do you think cops are sacred and get to be above the law?
