(7,290 posts)I love him as President, but eight years is enough for anyone.

(36,418 posts)Seriously. That's the solution.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)solution to which problem?
Agnosticsherbet
(11,619 posts)to run for office.
However, I don't think the whole draft thing is going to work.

(38,310 posts)But why would she want to?

(11,619 posts)President Obama can not run again.

(7,290 posts)to say that Barack Obama would really be the President if his wife were elected?
Agnosticsherbet
(11,619 posts)is to have his wife run.
She would be a damn good President, if she decided to take such a course.
Of course, people concerned with dynasties would not welcome such a run.
SickOfTheOnePct
(7,290 posts)third term could only apply to one of them, and that would be him.
Agnosticsherbet
(11,619 posts)I pointed out that it was not allowed.
And as to the third term, Read "Joe Biden and Obama's third term."
What they talk about is a thid term for a party in power. Democats have done it only twice, other than FDR. Republicans four times.
So, if Hillary or any Democatic nominee gets elected it will be viewed historically as a third term.
By the way, this aticle is why I think that Republicans have a real shot at winning. Historically, Americans are relucatnt to give a party a third term.

(15,031 posts)As the 22nd would not have applied to President Truman, I surmise any rescinding Amendment would not apply to the President then sitting in office. President's play by the rules in effect when they enter the game.

(72,790 posts)8 years is enough, imo. And this goes for all presidents, good and bad.

(34,857 posts)I know Obama can't run for reelection. Still, eight is not enough.

(72,790 posts)Cool. Let's bring GWB back for eight more!

(34,857 posts)Hopefully we elect someone who will finish the job Obama started.

(65,616 posts)Oh well. It still is a nice thought. I'd give him 12, but that is cruel and unusual punishment. The heart and mind probably cannot handle more than 8 years of non stop bullshit with some hurry up and wait moments.

Shit, I might even join him in his illegal coup to retain power.

(15,512 posts)and foreign policy is Obama's strong suit so maybe they can work something out?
Or maybe they already have?

(53,661 posts)He's going to be renovating that mansion in Hawaii for a while and enjoying the family.
Obama has always operated knowing he has limited time to achieve his goals. He was always focused for the long term and it's why he got the Nobel Prize right away. They'd read his writings and heard what he had to say about Iran.
He's did what's right, no matter how it looks to those with venal interests. I have heard him recount how many days he has to get things done, especially since his reelection.
Remember the scene after he was sworn into office for his second term, and he turned and looked back to the crowd?
He said when asked why he was turning back to look, IIRC:
'I shall not see this again.'

(10,893 posts)But yeah, if it were all up to me, this president would get some more time and WITHOUT the Republicans in Congress. He wasn't did justice to have most of his base stay home in non-presidential elections, and have most of his presidency handicapped by the R's. I routinely run into people (even a politics classmate of mine) who blame him for not doing things that the R's have kept him from doing.

(19,926 posts)And no Clinton either. We've had enough of corporate rule.

(22,756 posts)he would have gotten enough done for 16 years if the Republicans hadn't fought him every step of the way...
I deeply admire and respect Barack Obama... he has put up with more abuse than any man should... he needs a rest
